He went in and was never seen again. On the MK11 website his profile said that he was freed of Quan Chi's control when Quan Chi got killed in X. That implies that he was still alive even after he got sucked in the soulnado in 9 and his profile kind of implies that he is a good guy now although he is still Noob. If he died in the soulnado then the whole time travel storyline they are doing in 11 will explain how he returned by going back in time before he died in the soulnado.
