Description
This is Ironhide, the Autobot weapons specialist from the 2007 Transformers Movie. I tried making him out of Bionicle pieces, hope I did a decent job. Only problem I have with it is I couldn't find a Bionicle head with blue eyes, like his are supossed to.Related content

thats a pretty neat bionicle-looking ironhide there & it looks exactly like the 2007 one even though it dont hav blue eyes.

I have that one, but Ironhide isn't white. If the head were black, it would work well.

cool, I like the clean simplicity of your designs, mine are a bit more chunky, but paradoxically seem to have greater articulation.

Yes, I know what you mean, this Ironhide can barely walk. That's the problem with building bigger and bulkier robots-I have difficulty getting them to move.

I hear you, although my bigger models have the capactiy for articulation, their own weight often makes it impractical.

Yeah. As my robots get bigger they need multiple legs to keep from keeling over.

I often put in multiple arms rather than extra legs, and I find that balencing them just right can stop them from keeling over, and failing that, I link the legs together for greater stability.

yeah, but there is a trade off in terms of weight balence and capacity for movement, fine if you just want it for display though.

Yeah, most of my Bionicle TFs can't walk, so I guess they are mostly for show.

I try to give mine that capacity for movement, or at least different poses but since I seldom "play" with my models it is fairly moot, still it's good to have.

man, who are you guys, this kinda of convo is what i wished i could get my friends to talk with about..but alas i seem to be the only one interested in modelling mecha.

I mostly dabble in the field myself, my models could be seen less as mecha and more as powered armour, the difference being that it represents a thinner outer covering with built in weapons rather than a piloted vehicle.
