I've been looking forward to bringing this character to life for a while, I even already have plans for her and the other two for stories coming up

I understand what you mean about that enthusiasm and energy thing, I usually try to connect all of my characters with something from my personal life so it feels like they are a part of me. It usually ends up with me getting excited about writing them into stories and if it doesn't happen usually I wont feel a strong motivation to do anything about them. (hence the reason why I was less demanding for the other one and even less with the third)

we must have spent weeks trying to get her right, we even had to pay extra just to get the half shaved head thing.

... and that's why I don't do commissions.  LOL.  Not the having to spend money thing, but the reworking just to get things just right.
