I once rented a video game and never returned it. One of my friends came up with "Pulling a Dark" meaning renting a game and never returning it, naming it after me. Silly inside-joke.

People were doing that long before you were (in my day it was 8-tracks and Beta tapes).

That doesn't mean I'm the 1st one to do it. I don't know where you're getting that. O.o
It's "named after me" because inbetween me and my friends, I'm the only one doing it. Since Dark is my nick, one of my friends came up with it and ever since whenever we speak of stealing rented games we call it that way.
E.g.: "Let's pull a dark."
It doesn't have to be publicly official to have something named after you. xD
