Hiya, everyone! The good news is, I’m not dead! So, while I was off drawing (and also procrastinating), I came up with another recast idea, and given my recent Cuphead obsession, it’s likely you’ve already guessed which show I’ve chosen to recast this time.

Now, originally, I was going to use regular classic Disney characters for this one (Mickey, Oswald, etc.), but someone had already beat me to that punch. Then I’ve realized, “Wait a minute! Kingdom Hearts is a Disney property, and no one has used that for this meme yet.” So, I followed my gut and went, “Alright, then it’s The Sora and Roxas Show it shall be!”

Cast:

Cuphead - Sora

Mugman - Roxas

Elder Kettle - King Mickey

Ms. Chalice - Yuffie

Porkrind - Cid

The Devil - Xemnas

King Dice - Luxord

Henchman - Demyx

Some side notes I want to address:

- Chalice was a bit tricky, because apart from Kairi, Xion, and maybe Namine, there’s not a lot of female KH characters that are around Roxas and Sora’s age. Then, I realized, “Oh wait…Yuffie also exists in the KH universe, doesn’t she?” Plus, she’s just about the only female in the KH franchise that has a similar personality to Chalice, so it was perfect.

- Dice, Devil, and Henchman were WAY more difficult for me, because The Cuphead Show is a series that’s heavily reliant on comedy, and as such, there’s a lot of comedic moments between its 3 main villains. Apart from Demyx, Axel, Xigbar and Larxene, the Kingdom Hearts franchise hardly has any “comedic” original villains. For The Devil, I wanted to choose a KH character that was equal parts threatening and equal parts flamboyant. Xemnas may not be as “flamboyant” as Devil, but he has some small moments of hamminess in KH2 at least. For King Dice, it was a close toss-up between Axel and Luxord; Axel, because he’s got the same charming and snarky sense of humor that Dice has, and Luxord because of the whole gambler motif he has with his cards. I went with the latter, because I could never imagine Axel actively trying to murder children (especially since he was canonical besties with Roxas). Henchman, I’ll admit was a bit easier than the other 2, mostly because Demyx is the only KH villain I can think of who’s both funny, childish, and a bit of a scaredy cat.

- Also, kudos to FictionAlchemist for suggesting I use King Mickey as Elder Kettle, because I was originally going to use Yen Sid for that role, but then I remembered Elder Kettle is a war veteran, and Mickey’s sort of like that in the KH universe, so…yeah.
