Just finished reading the original "Planet of the Apes" novel by Pierre Boule.This is based on how each ape race was described.

Kind of. The orangutans in the book (of which there is only one) are more like the big financers, whereas in the film they resemble the theocratic leadership of Iran.

I suppose so, in the book at least. The ones in the film were basically the ape equivalents of Iran or Lebanon's "Morality Police".

the fun part is that, in the novels\movies, gorillas are shown as mindless sadistic berserkers while chimpanzees as calm and rational scientists...in reality gorillas are (mostly) gentle giants and they are herbivorous, while chimpanzees have a very fierce and warlike attitude, and they are carnivorous if not cannibalistic.
the Burton version was stupid, but much more naturally accurate about ape attitude.

Would it hurt to say that bonobos (or pygmy chimpanzees) are kind of the opposite of common chimpanzees being more hippie like and offer mating and peace instead of war?
