Hello. I run a youtube channel called LookNowTV. I am working on a video about earth & space Monoliths. Can I use your art for about 5-10 seconds in it & possibly use this piece of art as the thumbnail for the video? I will give you full credit in the video description. Let me know. Thanks!

Ahh....love your close up planets. They are really nicely done. What do you use to make them? Because I use vue for such closeups and render times are really really long. Dunno how other programs renders such things...

DarinK In reply to SolarArchitect [2012-01-27 02:30:10 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I use Terragen and Vue for my planets. There are a lot of tips available that show how to optimize Vue and Terragen render settings to get the highest possible quality in the shortest period of time. Some things are always going to take a long time to render (clouds), but I like using Vue because you can render in stages if you wish.

SolarArchitect In reply to DarinK [2012-01-27 11:06:51 +0000 UTC]

yeah, the resume render feature is one of the best things in vue.

My main problem is that I like to work with large resolutions, and no matter
what optimizations I make the render times are almost everlasting

Do you use custom "user settings"?

SolarArchitect In reply to DarinK [2012-01-28 15:11:02 +0000 UTC]

Not really. I mostly play with quality boosts settings in the atmosphere editor.

They're covered by an impenetrable forcefield, give off powerful signals, and oh yeah, they turned Jupiter into a star.

They're a lot more than steel walls.

Looks good. I would make the smaller planet have almost no visible surface. The sun is almost right behind it and it should look similar to the smallest moon. Everything else looks great.
