i like the concept. i like the use of the logo. i like the variantions of light and dark. their facial expressions leave something to be desired, they're kind of neutral/almost negative appearing. i think embracing who we are should have a happier, more positive feel to it. also the porportion on the outer arm is a bit wonky, the figure on the right looks anorexic (unhealthy). i would prefer to see people of average (which means even a little chubby) wieght representing the community rather than enforcing unhealthy physical "ideals".

I guess it could be happier. But I drew it in black and white, and with the logo in full color, it was overpowering. She wasn't meant to look that skinny, when I resized it, it messed up the proportions a bit, and the layering made her arm a bit funny looking. I was going to fix it, but I guess I was too lazy to.
I'm not meaning to enforce unhealthy physical "ideals" That is just how the picture turned out. I myself have done my own complaining toward shows and magazines that seem to promote that thinner is better. I guess I am a bit offended by your comment, but I'm glad to see people like you who aren't afraid to let people know what they think about something.

I understand your points. Unless otherwise specified in the description section, I tend to assume that the piece is finished and therefore open to critique as is. My intent was definately not to offend. A lot of things (not just about being super skinny) are a part of the subtle programing of our culture. I catch myself unconciously reinforcing stereotypes, etc. sometimes (whether in action or just in my thinking), I can't even image what i do that i don't notice. We all do it. I certainly understand how the propotion would get screwy with resizing. please don't get the impression that i don't like it. I do. I just don't think it should be the dApride ID as it is right now. ...I'll be checking out your gallery in the next few days when i have some time.

So far this is the best one I've seen of all the entries. It has the logo set in an interesting way, and is not too cliche'. I like the simplicity of it. It's not overbearing. This one's got my vote, if I had one.
