So you literally just reapply the colors over and over again? If you had to guess how many times do you reapply the colors? (Teach me your ways Teacher!)

Pretty much, I just work in light layers and keep layering and blending until I achieve the effect I want. I can't really give a number, it's impossible to keep track as it varies depending on color(s) and the size of the area I'm working.

I knew this would look absolutely stunning when finished and just wow... takes my breath away.
I think my favourite part is the actual gem and how you included bits of gold just like in a real lapis. 
The circled chain from the shackles serving as a cut-off is so perfect. The whole piece is extremely harmonious with its circular shapes.
The bits of white lighting on her hair is wonderful too! Almost looks like droplets of water, which is of course perfect for Lapis.
Love the inclusion of the moon phases - since the moon is associated with water too!
I love the "dead" or vacant look in her eyes too; I feel it helps give a mystical and mysterious energy to the piece that makes it so enticing.
Your work always blows me away.
