Can you please tell me exactly how you did the fire? It's so cool

DannArte In reply to Visual-Guy [2013-12-25 19:37:48 +0000 UTC]

I took a piece of acrylic film and deformed it applying heat, then I filled the inside with colored cellophane.

You're so very welcome! You more than deserve it, believe me.

By the way, I might be hitting you up with a possible commission in the future- I would love to have one of your beautiful sculptures sitting on my shelf. I especially love the way you paint your figures.

If I may ask, what did you use to paint?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DannArte In reply to Porcubird [2011-07-06 04:33:13 +0000 UTC]

Thanks ^^ I use acrylics and different types of sealants

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Porcubird In reply to DannArte [2011-07-07 18:10:02 +0000 UTC]

Do you paint it on after it is dry? Or is there some more complex coloring method for cold Porcelain?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DannArte In reply to Porcubird [2011-07-07 19:28:57 +0000 UTC]

You can add color to the clay before sculpting, but I prefer to paint it after it's dry. There's no specific method for that

Porcubird In reply to DannArte [2011-07-07 20:39:27 +0000 UTC]

Cool~
I was just curious about experimenting with this medium. I've used Sculpey and normal clay, but this seems pretty intriguing ^^

Have you considered contacting nitendo to design premium figures for them? How much did this cost the commissioner if i may ask? D:

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DannArte In reply to Shattered-Earth [2011-06-17 01:34:06 +0000 UTC]

I haven't thought about that I love making unique handmade pieces, I think they're more valuable and have more soul.
Base price is about $35 but it depends on the character's complexity

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shattered-Earth In reply to DannArte [2011-06-17 01:58:56 +0000 UTC]

Ah, they look like they would be worth a lot! Is cold porcelain the kind that air dries? I thought these were done with a kiln, they're just amazing and make me miss my ceramics class
