i have to agree. i tried getting into mudbox pretty heavily, and just couldnt get it to utilize some of the things i wanted it to do. zbrush has come a long way to where it is now, and is requiring less and less that you even use additional programs. With dynamesh (idk if youve seen that) concepting and just general sketching is really fluid now, i love it. On a downside, i dont 2d sketch enough anymore because of this xD

Man I have to get back to these replies sooner >_>;, I'm going to try and learn how to use Zbrush more after I get a bit better with my sketches, I love the 2D side of sketching way too much . Lately I've been using Google sketchUp to make some minor assets and then rendering them in Photoshop this way I don't have to worry bout perspective as much and can focus on getting the materials and lighting down.

ya i know what you mean, ive spent a lot of time memorizing anatomy now, facial and all, learning to block it out and what not. Have a lot of hours clocked just putting out Zbrush models that are purely anatomical. Took me a long time to get into the idea of blocking it out, trying to keep those primitives and not smoothing everything down. The benefit is you can use those as startups for character concepting and stuff like that though

Looks like you really got it down though, these images are reminiscent in quality of a lot of the stuff chantal used to show us

Yeah Chantal's classes were always a huge help and I've basically be using that and noting my own muscle structure when at the gym before I started these studies, I happened to also dig up the book she made us buy and I have never appreciated it more than I do now haha.

I really have to get back into sculpting with Zbrush, Mudbox is just way too limited for some of the sculpts I've tried making.

Yeah I'm really pleased with that one, luckily DA has tons of pics that have a number of good poses and what not. I'm gathering some more pics for the next set so I can keep in practice, I want to keep doing this till I can just draw it from memory and I feel a little stupid for not practicing it more earlier during college.
