Description
Inuyasha trudged down the snow covered stairs. He had tried to wave off Mrs. Higurashi's gratitude for looking after Kagome and for cleaning the house with a "Forget it, it's my job," but the lady would have none of that. She almost didn't let him leave.

He let out a deep breath as he sank into his car seat. He glanceed at the passenger seat before he turned the ignition. He stared at the envelope sitting there; the envelope with the Higurashi family's invitations. Then he stared at the top of the stairs.

Invitations.

Steps.

Invitations.

Steps....

"FUCK!" he'd forgotten about the invitations. He grabbed the envelope and started another treacherous ascent.

"Kagome's mother wanted me to tell you that she was very happy to accept the invitation," Inuyasha informed his father.

The Youkai looked up from his paperwork, "Is that where you were? You should've called."

"You're out of town so much, it must have slipped my mind," Inuyasha replied.

Touga put his pen down and squeezed the bridge of his nose, "I don't want a fight."

"Me neither," Inuyasha agreed.

"You could've fooled me. All I'm asking for is a phone call."

"Sorry, I actually did forget you were here," Inuyasha tried to explain.

Touga frowned, not used to such indifference from his son, "You used to always remember when I came home."

"I used to think you cared more about me than your job."

Touga pounded his desk. "That's not fair! I had to work harder to provide you and Sesshoumaru with everything you needed after your mother died!"

"We didn't need six swimming pools! Or a movie theatre. It was bad enough losing Mom without you drifting away too!"

"I won't take such slander, I didn't drift away!" Touga protested.

"Oh yeah? What's my favorite movie?" Inuyasha asked heatedly.

"That's not fair! Most parents wouldn't know that. Ask something else!" Touga objected.

"Fine. What's my favorite food? You've bought enough of it."

"Um... well... I know this... Cotton candy?" Touga guessed.

Inuyasha snorted and turned his back on his father, "I rest my case. It's ramen, by the way."

Touga felt as if a lead ball was forming in his stomach as Inuyasha walked away. Quick as a wink, he caught his son and held him tightly.

"I'm so sorry son... I was so concerned with being a good father... I forgot to be a dad."
