"I wish for you to accompany... no, that's no good," Inuyasha pulled at his hair in frustration. He took some breaths, rearranged his robes and faced his mirror again.

"To show my gratitude for freeing me, I'd like you... to just kill me now!" Inuyasha plopped himself onto his bed and buried his head under a pillow.

He heard a chuckle from his doorway, looking up he saw Myouga.

"Practicing your wooing?" the flea asked.

"Shut up..." the god moaned through the pillows. "This used to be so easy."

"Well, it's been half a millennium, I'm sure you'll get it with enough practice."

"It's not fair," Inuyasha pouted, "I'm a god! Why can't I work up the courage to talk to one mortal girl?"

"I remember having this same conversation with your father," Myouga sat down on the bed beside his master, lifting the pillows from his face.

"Yeah? How did he get over it?"

Myouga gestured to the mirror, which was now showing Kagome walking down a street, "Watch her. You're bound to find a good ice-breaker eventually."

Inuyasha looked to the scene playing before him. His eyes reddened and narrowed at what he saw.

"Come on, girlie, why won't you let me and the boys show you a good time?" a scruffy teen and his friends leered at her.

Kagome gathered her courage, "I'm not interested."

"What's the matter, princess? Too good for us?" one of the bigger gang members said indignantly.

"I've got to go," Kagome tried to push her way through, but was grabbed roughly by her arm.

"Looks like someone needs to learn their place," the leader spat. He shoved her into the nearest wall, and brought out a switch blade. "Shh, this won't hurt. Much."

"That's more than I will promise," a calm voice said from the shadows.

"What the?" the teen whipped his head around, trying to find this new person. All he could make out were two glowing eyes.

"You've scared the girl. I cannot let that stand," Inuyasha said as he stepped into the open.

Kagome gaped at the Hanyou standing among the unconscious bodies of the gang.

"You... you're real?"

Inuyasha nodded, "I wish to-"

He was interrupted by Kagome fainting. He rushed forward to catch her.

"Again? Is it my breath?" he wondered before he and the girl dissipated, leaving only a puff of smoke.
