Description We were all standing just outside our old office. The whole place was emptied out. Our gatherings and belongings were all packed up. We were taking one last glimpse at it.
"To think...this is how it ends..." I said.
"It's a bit of a drag," said Alexis.
"It feels like the end of an era," said Rosalina.
"I'm really gonna miss it here," said Emily.
"What a way to go," said Galleom.
The old studio was now bought by another company that would use it for whatever business they had in mind.
"Nearly 12 years in this place, and now it's time to relocate," I said.
"It feels like just yesterday..." said Heartthrobber.

One Month Ago

Back then, we were all doing our usual things. I was trying to work on my stories, Hearthtrobber was ogling me while I was working, Emily was riding on Galleom's tank form, the whole nine yards.
"Faster, Gal! Faster!" said Emily.
"Come on, Emily! This is as fast I can go and you know it!" said Galleom.
"Well, do some sweet tricks!" said Emily.
Heartthrobber was twirling my hair.
"You're so cute when you're hard at work," she told me.
"You do realize you were written to be 100% flirty towards me, right?" I reminded her.
"I can't help it. I am your little sweetheart, after all."
"Babe, you're falnderizing yourself if you keep that up."
Just then, Alexis came running in, panting like a dog.
"Guys...gusy...you're not...gonna...believe...what...I...just...found out..." she panted.
"Maybe we should let you catch your breath first," said Rosalina.
We got her a glass of water and she swigged it down.
"Thanks," she said.
"So, what's going on?" I asked.
"Look!" she exclaimed, holding up an envelope.
"A sweepstakes thinger?" asked Galleom.
"A chain letter?" asked Emily.
"The IRS?" I asked.
"No, just read it," said Alexis.
She gave me the envelope and I opened it.

This letter was from the DA staff themselves. They informed us that the site would be all new starting on May 20th.
"A new version of the website with all new features that were never there before?" I asked.
"It's worse than that," said Alexis.
"What could be so bad about it?" Heartthrobber wondered.
"It's...the Eclipse..." Alexis whispered.
The Eclipse. That meant only one thing.
"Are you serious? That Eclipse mode is gonna be taking over permanently?" Galleom asked.
"As serious as a well-focused actor in a play," said Alexis.
The Eclipse mode.

This mode was not very well received on by many users out there who gave it a try. Some liked it, but many were pretty harsh about it, choosing to stick with the original version of the site instead. I wasn't really one to use it much either. After all, it was pretty buggy and jagged. It was hard to get through. They had improved on it in updates about what they fixed and what not, but still, many people were still hesitant to use it. And now, it seemed it was gonna be the only option.

"So, this new DA is gonna be Eclipse?" I asked.
"Well, they didn't name drop it, but everyone is assuming that's what it's gonna be," said Alexis.
"I'm sure it won't be all bad," said Rosalina.
"Oh, no?" responded Alexis.
She showed a list of users who planned to deactivate their accounts and leave the site for good once that day arrived. Some of which were my close friends.
"No. This can't be," I said aghast.
"Oh, it can," said Alexis.
"Daddy?" Emily asked.
"I had built my fan fic empire here for almost 12 years now, and they're finally changing up the website in a way that lots of members plan to leave just because it's being forced on us. I would like to stay with this site the way it is as well, but would I be in the right to follow in the footsteps of those leaving?" I thought to myself.
"Are you alright, Andy?" Heartthrobber asked.
"I need to think this over," I said.

I looked out the window in my room. Some other members who got word of the upcoming eclipse were already rioting about it.
"NO! WE'RE DOOMED!" they screamed.
"DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN! PLEASE!" they shouted.
"WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!" they lamented.
"I fear it, too, but not to that degree," I sighed.
It was something I was just gonna have to adjust to. It was gonna take some time.
"I have to prepare for it," I said.

For the past few hours, I started trying out Eclipse. It was definitely a chore to navigate through. They said it was to be a new and improved version, but it didn't seem to come out that way. Some complaints others had about it were noticeable. Others were easy to get around. The gang was right outside my room, wondering what I could be doing.
"Dad has been in there all day," said Emily.
"Is he coming out?" Rosalina wondered.
"I just hope he doesn't sprain anything," said Heartthrobber.
"He's a tough guy. He'll be fine," said Galleom.
I still kept trying to work my way around some things. At that moment, Heartthrobber noticed something going on.
"Look at that. Now, members are trying to set up petitions to keep the site the way it is," she said.
"Seriously?" Galleom questioned.
They looked at it, and indeed they were. There were petitions up the wazoo about stopping this eternal eclipse.
"Don't they know that those things never work?" Alexis pondered.
"They're just wasting their time," said Galleom.
"Now that's not very nice," said Emily. "But it is true."
"When will Andrew come out?" Rosalina questioned.
I stepped out. I felt exhausted.
"Dad!" Emily exclaimed.

We were all together in the main room, having a meeting.
"So, what was that all about?" Galleom wondered.
"You were in there for a few days now," said Alexis.
"You look and smelly terrible," said Heartthrobber.
"I just needed to get the hang of that new version," I said.
The new DA was approaching.
"Everyone, pack up your things," I told them.
"Is this it? Are we fired?" Alexis wondered.
"It can't end this way! It just can't!" Heartthrobber sobbed.
"I'm gonna have to go back to the orphanage!" Emily lamented.
"Stop!" I t old them.
Soon enough, they got it together.
"We're not quitting, and you're not fired," I told them.
"We're not?" Galleom asked.
"We're going to that Eclipse mode, whether or not we like it," I told them.
"Really?" Alexis responded.
"Really," I replied.
Heartthrobber pounced me and gave me a big snuggle.
"Oh, Andy! I just knew you would leave us!" she cheered.
"Of course not, babe. My longevity on this site is enough to keep me from joining the deactivation bandwagon. It's not gonna be easy to settle in at first, but we'll manage. I just know it," I informed them.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Emily asked.

Soon enough, we started gathering up everything for the big move.
"So, what's gonna happen to the office once we're done packing up?" Emily asked.
"I'm going to put it up for sale. I'm sure someone can use it for something. I just don't know what," I answered.
"Alexis should be back with the papers for the new one we'll be settling into," said Heartthrobber.
"That's good. I have to sign that thing and take care of it soon," I said.
Rosalina had put away all of the equipment and loaded it up onto the truck. Emily had the furniture put away nice and easy.
"Now, we just need to get the papers and find a potential buyer, and we're good to go," I said.

Alexis came back with the approval papers.
"Okay, guys, I got them right here," she said.
I got the papers and signed them up.
"Perfect! Now we're all set and ready to move into the new place!" I told them.
"Still gonna feel pretty sad to say goodbye to the place we knew and loved from the start," said Galleom.
Just then, the bell rang.
"That sounds like customers who are looking to purchase the place," I said.
"Do you want me to give them a good Sonic Boom if they turn down the offer?" Alexis asked. "You know, give them a little persuasion?"
"No, let's just do this legally," I insisted.
"No one ever wants to be persuasive."

There were tons of different companies looking to buy out the office, but there weren't very many promising candidates.
"Sorry, but I don't think it will work," I said to one.
"It's good, but not good enough," said Galleom.
"We appreciate the offer, but we're gonna have to turn it down," said Rosalina.
"You kidding? Not with a record like this," said Alexis.
Eventually, we did settle on one company.
"Good records, decent security deposit, clean health, no felonies, yes yes yes. I think we got it," I said.
We sold it off to a nice indie animation studio that works on many cartoons and series not many people would know until word got out.
"Thank you," said the head of the studio.
And with that, the deed was given, the key was handed over, and there was only a few days left before the Eclipse.

We hired a few friends to come by and help us settle into the new place. These were my friends who were gonna join me in the eclipse as well.
"We're just glad you're sticking around, Andy," said Sergio.
"Yeah. It wouldn't be the same without ya," said Ruben.
"Hey, I wouldn't want to let you guys down," I told them. "I'm just as annoyed about all the people frantically panicking about this as you."
"Thanks for staying with us," said Darren.
"No prob," I said.
"That was the last of it," said Theresa.
"Then it looks like the new office is set," Galleom stated.
"But before we move in, there's one last thing we should do," I said.
With that, we made our way back to the office.

Present

So, there we were. We gave the old office building we used for the past near 12 years. It was finally time to say goodbye.
"Well...this is it. I hope that animation studio does well," I said.
"Here's hoping," said Heartthrobber.
Just then, a train whistle sounded.
"lAST CALL FOR ECLIPSE!!!" the virtual conductor shouted.
"We'd better get going. The train's leaving soon," said Rosalina.
"If we stay here, we'll be deleted," said Emily.
"Come on, everyone. Time to go," I said.

We arrived at the train station where all the other members who were going to stay active were getting on board. Thankfully, there was plenty of room. I let my team members get on board before me. I was the last one to arrive. Pretty dramatic, huh? It was how I wrote it. Felt more symbolic that way to me.
"Here I am," I said.
I got on board and joined all the other members staying on the site through this tough time.
"Glad to see you're staying," said another member.
"Thanks, you too," I responded.
"ALL ABOARD!!!" said the engineer.
The train started moving. It was the last train to the new DA. The one that almost nobody wanted. We were willing to adapt to it. As for others...well...

Those who did want to accept the new DA just either left or awaited for the end, being taken down with it. It was sad to see some of them go. But they chose their path, and we chose ours. It was not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
"How sad..." Rosalina lamented.
"I hate to be them," said Galleom.
"Their choice," said Alexis.
"I wouldn't wish that on our worst enemies," said Alexis.
"But at least we still have each other," said Emily.
"Yes. We do," I said.
The train was making its way out of the classic site.
"Eclipse, here we come," I said.

The train passed through the tunnel as the old site began disappearing out of existence. So came the end of a glorious era. And now begins a new one. This was DA Eclipse.

I'll miss a few features, but maybe those could return in some capacity.

Oh no! I got it to schedule for today instead of tomorrow! This was supposed to be the last thing to upload before Eclipse arrived!
