Meanwhile, at the finish line with the grand stage set at the most recent version of Final Destination, Lisia, Ali, and all the teams that had gotten eliminated up to this point awaited the winning team to grab the billion dollars.
"It all comes down to this. Our two teams are now approaching the finish line. Who will be the first to arrive and win...one billion dollars?" Lisia announced holding out the cash.
The other teams were awaiting their results.

Commentary: Bot Buds

Orbot: I am hoping that the Old Schoolers will triumph in the end. After all, our bionic brother ROB is one of us.
Cubot: That goes without saying.

Vampire Hunters

Simon: Either team has fought well and proven they are greater warriors than us.
Maria: I'm hoping more for the cute Inklings.

Troublemakers

Wario: Those Inklings make more mess than me, so I say they should win!
Waluigi: And after this, I'll see about them giving me my own show or game!

Yoshi: Really hard to say on this one.
Pac-Man: Old Schoolers for me.

Sonic: If I had to pick one of them, I'd say I'm going with the Old Schoolers. Nothing against the Inklings. Just had more experience fighting those retro guys.

Mario: Not really fond of the Inklings since I had that bad experience at Isle Delfino, so I'm gonna say the Old Schoolers.
Luigi: I'll vouch for you, brother. I have a vacuum to help with that.

DK: Old Schoolers. Been around the block with them from Nintendo's beginning days in gaming, and that ink in the fur still chafes a little.

Isaac: I would have to go with the Mess Makers on this one. They're a lot of fun.
Mia: And they were really powerful for newcomers in Nintendo's work.

Lucina: I had more fun with the Inklings in that challenge back in our homeland. I'm rooting for them.

Lip: I want the Inklings to win! They just have such colorful personalities!
Takamaru: I am a little mixed myself. Though we did team up with them quite often near the end. So I shall hope for both teams either way.

Maxie: Who are we rooting for? Neither of them! This finale has becoming a quaking disaster!
Archie: It's a tsunami of an epic fail! We should have been in this, not them!
Maxie: This is just absolutely abysmal.
Archie: And we are never speaking of this again.

End commentary

The two remaining teams were making their way past the bedazzling backgrounds of Final Destination. Making their way from the N64 one to the Gamecube one to the Wii one to the 3DS/Wii U one. It was a really tough call. For the Mess Makers, Orange was running on empty and ready to collapse from using the Splatling while Blue was still trying to give it his all. Mr. Game & Watch was starting to go strong, but ROB's batteries seemed to be running low at that moment. But he wasn't quitting. Both teams soon arrived at the grand hall and were just about the finish line with the other teams watching them make their way to there.
"Here they come! The Mess Makers and the Old Schoolers! It's a close race! The billion is going to..." Lisia announced as the teams were just about there. They made it up the stairs to the stage, and Orange collapsed right at the finish line. And unfortunately for her, the Old Schoolers beat Blue to the billion.
"THE OLD SCHOOLERS WIN!" Lisia announced.
Mr. Game & Watch hopped up and down while ringing his bell with joy while ROB strutted his robotic torso and rotated his head in pride.
"Well, I can't doubt losing to anyone who deserves it as much as we do," said Blue.
"Can't top their longevity and determination. They're fresher than us," Orange commented.
"It looks like everyone's happy here," Lisia commented.
"We're not!" Maxie criticized.
"For the last time...I DON'T CARE!" Lisia retorted.

Highlights and Commentary: Mess Makers

Orange: Well...we did our best. We were just a few inches away from the billion, but it was still so far out of reach.
Blue: I guess this is one turf war that will go down in the history books as one that was lost.
Orange: But in a way, we are at least happy that we got to see the world and meet a lot of nice people.
Blue: Some nicer than others, of course. Though we are not going home billionaires, we are at least going home with our heads high and our spirits as strong as ever.
Orange: There really will be no place like home. You with me?
Blue: I'm with you.
Inklings: WE'LL BE FRESHER NEXT TIME!

Old Schoolers

Mr. Game & Watch: I...I...I just don't know what to say! We won! That's just the greatest feeling ever!
ROB: Pulse rating increasing. Sensing great levels of spontaneous outburst.
Mr. Game & Watch: Just think. We're some of the more forgotten Nintendo characters, and instead of one of the more well-known big shots, we were the ones who came out on top.
ROB: We are now the wielders of a billion dollars. This is to be stored in my memory banks.
Mr. Game & Watch: The challenges were invigorating, the sights were breathtaking, and the action was all over the place. And we were happy to have partaken in such a competition and come out as the champions.
ROB: With age comes wisdom. We have gained vast wisdom from this race. And that was the key to our victory.

End commentary

Every team got together for one last group shot together with Maxie and Archie being the only ones not happy celebrating this. And as for Sonic and Lucina, they were happily looking at each other with a smile in the background. Mr. Game & Watch and ROB celebrated their victory by throwing their big billion around in the air.
"Yes, throw your money in the air and on the ground. Real clever," Lisia sarcastically commented. Then she and Ali were facing the camera to sign off one last time. Ali let out his Pokedex cry.
"That's right, Ali. It's finally over. We have found our billion dollar winner, we all had a good laugh, and this has been the most amazing journey for anyone to go through. See you all again soon! And thank you for watching...the Ridiculous Race!" Lisia announced as she winked just one last time. And that was how the race was won by Mr. Game & Watch and ROB. AKA the Old Schoolers.
