That's one nice shot, I like how distinctive the various "layers" in this photo are. The main buildings stands out nicely from the background, and I feel like this gives the piece a lot of depth
At first I felt like the dome was a little too centred, but overall I think you still achieved a nice framing. Little details like the building on the left coming into the image help to balance the shot out.
And last but not least, I really love your values, you captured quite a range of them

Thanks Daniel, I do agree that the dome could've been placed a little more to the right (I tried cropping it, but the composition didn't work afterwards). I was also quite glad to achieve the dof with a digital camera

You are very welcome. And after all, it still is a great photo The (shallow) depth of field though is not so much a matter of film or digital, rather of the sensor size and the specs of your lens Did you take this with a compact camera, or a dSLR?
I think the fact, that the objects here are rather far away does definitely help, though

I took it with a compact (before I bought a DSLR) but yeah from what I can remember I was using the 6x optical zoom.

Lol when I was on my trip to Venice we were riding around Italy a bit, but wasn't expecting getting to Verona. But you know one missed exit and you're half of country farer then you expect. This is what we had with Verona.
