Just in time for V5, the Anime & Manga, Anthro and Cartoons & Comic Galleries have been completely revamped and are now stand-alone sections along side Digital Art, Traditional art, Photography, ect. These changes will allow for a much stronger community feel among these large communities in deviantART, and will also allow users who do not particularly care for these styles of artwork to avoid them, if they so choose.
New features in the revamp include:
A few additional things to keep in mind: Non-Anime/Cartoon/Comic/Anthro styled fanart should be placed in the Fanart section under the Digital/Traditional sections as before. The Customization section is unaffected by this change, so all your Anime/Cartoons/Comic/Anthro styled wallpapers, icons, ect (Which do not contain unauthorized third party materials as outlined in 
We realize that this will mean that some artists will need to relocate some of their submissions, we hope that users will appreciate this change. Please take a moment to look over your galleries and see if any of the new sub-sections will provide a better home for your artwork. We hope you will enjoy the new galleries and sub-sections!

Hooray for this, all the dissenters should calm down. This will make browsing a lot neater: No more finding anime while browsing the fantasy paintings section. Great work, 'bout time this was done.

Oh crud....you mean to tell me NOW I have to CHANGE ALL my artwork cause you guys decided to FIX and ADD new features to Doujinshi and other stuff?! Half of my gallery has Omake Doujinshi from videogames!!!

I hope you guys don't delet half of my gallery just because you changed this stuff. It happened to me before, you decided to change and add a new feature for the sake of a better art comunity thingamajig and I get half of my gallery deleated cause the new feature changed the artwork that was on the old category. (I don't know IF I made any liking sence there, but that's what happened) and that was not the community thingamajig I was hoping for.
But either way...if I have to relocate in order to keep MY art in place - fine. It's gonna suck cause I have a bunch of stuff.

We certainly won't delete anything! If you want to wait a few days, we are going ot be launching V5 which has some better relocation tools, which should make the process easier.

I dont like it...not that its making things harder or anything, its just treating comics, cartoons, anthro, anime, and manga as if they arent artwork...
at least thats the feeling I get from it, like they're saying any anime digital work I do isnt Digital art. Or any traditional comic work I do isnt traditional art.
This might not be the reason they made the change, and alot of good might come from the change, but it gives me that bad feeling, so no matter what it will have a taste I need to wash out of my mouth.

these changes may make browsing more convienent
for those looking to avoid anime, anthro, and comic art,
but for my point of view it seems like it doesn't help
deviants who ARE looking at those categories..
for example, if i JUST wanted to find doujnshi,
i cant browse all of them - i still have to decide
whether i want digitally or traditionally crafted
doujnshi. regardless of which one i choose, im
still missing out on half of the entire category.
to me, it would make more sense if there were
two ways of browsing all deviations - so that you
could choose whether to browse by genre or by
medium. so that if i wanted to look at just anime,
i could view both digital and traditional at once.
but if i wanted to view just digital art, i could view
anime and fantasy and everything else that was
done digitally.
but i suppose that makes things a lot more complex.

Why is Anthro, Cartoons, and Comics in Step ONE? They're GENRES, not mediums. I can't draw a picture WITH a cartoon. Because they're a bitch to fit into the pencil sharpener.

lol, good one! ^_^ Never even saw it that way until you brought it up. They're just catering to the massive amounts of cartoon, anime, & anthro junkies simply by reshuffling the deck & throwing in a couple more 2s & 3s, all while using a naked lady deck to distract from the simplicity of it all.

Alright, while some of us can argue about whether those new subsections make it better or complicated (I kinda think of it as a mix of both), I'm just gonna be honest. Moving the Cartoons/Comics, Anime, & Anthro sections to the front just seems to do nothing. They're the same sections as always, just reshuffled around a bit.
Now, I actually don't have a problem against that. The problem I have is in how they treat it...They're basically giving us a placebo announcement. It makes it look good, & it makes them look good, but it's really nothing much. They should've just played it low-key, IMO.
But that's just my opinion, maybe I don't understand it all. Whatever, pz. ^_^

This is something I have been waiting for ever since I joined DA. I have been posting my 3D Anime artwork under "Digital Artwork > Drawings > Anime" for about a year, and looks like *NOW* I finally have the "proper" place to post my pictures. You guys have no idea for how long I have been wishing for this, since all of my work is in 3D Anime style. Only thing now is that I will have to move my entire gallery to the new category... but I can only do it ONE BY ONE and it's almost a *HUNDRED* pictures. How am I supposed to do this?

V5 will give you the ability to relocate more than one at a time... so sit tight for a few days and it should help you out quite a bit.
