Description
This is the first female Wool Carder Bee that I've seen this year -easily twice the size of the male.

Tech Specs: Canon 70D (F16, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (around 1.5x) + a diffused MT-24EX. This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.

Technique: A late afternoon thunderstorm sent this bee looking for cover in my Lavender bush, and after the sun came out it continued to sleep. I waited until early the next morning hoping to take advantage of cool weather slowing it down, but it was 21C and she only gave me a minute or so to take photos.
