Some great shots!, ive just started using my Canon MP-E 65mm Macro Lens. Im using a ring flash currently, defo need to invest in the MT-24EX. Could I ask how do you stabilise your focus to get a shot. Im really struggling to keep steady enough. All of yours look as though they have been done with a tripod they are so steady lol

Check out the tutorial section that I've written here, at Deviant Art: dalantech.deviantart.com/galle…

I do not use a tripod or focusing rail, all of my insect and flower macros are hand held. I do take a lot of control over the scene, and I try to keep my flash duration as short as possible to freeze what little motion is left.

Wow, great details!
And with the pink behind the yellow in the background, it almost looks cute ^-^
I like that you can see the 'dirtiness' of the pollen on it's legs and head.

You must be very pleased with the diffusion on this series and this one in particular.
If I'm not very much mistaken you've taken a major step forward, and my envious green tint has become luminescent.

I'm always sweating the light -always looking for ways to get the kind of light quality that I want to work with. Getting close...

what a cute little guy! Very nice picture, I always love seeing close ups with pollen all over their bristles.

itΒ΄s nice! but it seems that you had a fair amount of light, perhaps try closing more the diaphragm to get more into focus.Β

At five times life size even if I set the maximum F-stop on my lens (F16) the depth is still going to be less than a millimeter.
