So what happened to Seamus and Dean anyway? I think they should have had kids with someone or ended up with each other at least. I love this pairing! DD: Ah well :Lalala:

You hardly ever see any one draw these two. I love the detail of their cloaks, they are so very lovely.

These december sketches you're doing seem to be getting more and more intricate as you go along! Doesn't it usually go that when you get to the end of a project you halfass it because you're burnt out? Oh wait...I forgot not everyone has my well of laziness.

That. Is. Amazing. When it first hits you you just stare at it and all the little details. The stitching! The celtic design thingy! The clothing folds! The poses! I've really gotta stop having half-finished drawings laying around next to the computer because you always do stuff like this then I look at my pile of stuff and go DAMMIT! I SUCK! then grab a new piece of paper and start again. And with my well of laziness that's not a very appealing action.

well it's beacuse i feel bad about taking so long oTL if i had actually kept up with "one a day every day" they would all be as crap as some of the early DDD stuff i posted щ(≖益≖щ)

thank you! funny thing about laziness... i tried forever to create a little pattern on a new layer that i could just copy-paste all over his cuffs and things, but in the end it was WAY faster and less aggravating to just draw it by hand :\ it looks better too... and considering how wobbly it looks presently, that should say something about how awful my attempt at cheatery looked

you know, if you have lots of half-finished sketches that you like but not quite enough to post as a finished work, you should do some scrapped sketchdumps from your armor tutorial and other sketchdumps, i've found that your process is really cool to watch unfold

I thought that you'd be able to fly through the daily drawing thing. Because you draw so small. I thought you'd just be scribblescribble then a couple of minutes later...DONE! I didn't factor any loss of motivation or life distractions into that theory though.

That sounds like something I would do. I HAVE done stuff like that. Tried to be clever and make something on a separate layer so I could paste it in...but realised it was taking so much longer so I scrapped the whole thing. I probably would've looked for an existing pattern on the internets. There's some laziness for you. Potential copyright infringing laziness.

I....guess...I could do that. I guess it'll just be jammed into scraps so I won't have to feel like I'm drowning people in my nasty sketchbookery.

Hehe. Can I make an inappropriate comment and say "he's touching his sack?"

Awww. I'm touched that you said "one of my oldest and greatest dA friends" It's one thing to be an old friend, but it's certainly another to be a great one.

The wand tips are glowing and Seamus has freckles <3

I love freckles. Seeing some Deamus from you is awesome, I haven't done/seen/read anything HP related that isn't HPatK in forever now.

Dakt37 In reply to WedgeFactor [2011-01-29 04:53:26 +0000 UTC]

yup! i've always pictured seamus with freckles. maybe because of irish stereotypes? *is a terrible person*

yeah, i've been a bit out of the potter loop recently too, INCLUDING HPatK. idek why i keep putting off commenting. because i have read the most recent 2 chapters by now! and i pretty much melted of joy. why i can't weave that into a decent review is beyond me

I admit despite being like...7/8th Irish I don't have freckles, and when I complained one day all I got was "well we're black Irish* dear, no freckles to be had" >.>

And as for reviews, while I admit my review whore 3/4 half was a little down about it I understand not being able to actually write a decent review. It's all good.

*black Irish meaning Irish people with dark hair, not actually being black.

Prepare for an impromptu history lessen. ahem.

When the Gaels (predominately blond/red haired/light brown) arrived in Ireland it was the year 700bce. Ireland already had people there at the time, people who were peculiarly dark haired and pale skinned.

Those people were migrants who followed the retreating glaciers from southern Europe (or rather the northern Iberian peninsula, it's southern to me), and onto Ireland, where they lived for quite some time. The Gaels were more prolific and took over culturally/linguistically (until those surly, constantly invaded Britons came around) but obviously genetics don't bend to the will of the conqueror.

tl;dr Yes, basically, but the Iberian peninsula when it was way colder than any part of non-Scandinavian Europe, and before there was farming in Europe. I mean, they weren't even speaking proto-Indo-European yet.
