Description
Something fun while I'm away from my scanner this week. I'm back at home until Friday to get some training at headquarters and so I've just been spending evenings noodling away at lineart I already have saved to my laptop. It's nice to be home but I wouldn't mind getting back to my routine and my commission work. (I looove routine. Mm.)So yeah hey look a Pokemon. I rarely draw them but I always have fun when I do. Vaporeon was one of the first Pokemon I saw when I was a little first grader and it caught my eye and confused me all at the same time. (What the heck neck-frill. What are you doing.) I tried many times to draw it and always failed. Well I finally drew it. ^u^ And made it shiny to boot haha so very unique.

I keep hearin people disagree on whether they're cats or dogs; is it ever officially addressed? Their designs are just so ambiguous it's easy to take them either direction. :b

Well I was told at some point they were the "legendary dogs", but I guess that's incorrect. I just looked it up and they're really not supposed to be either. ^^' And they are very versatile!

Vaporeon! ^_^ <3 they have such a lovely design, haha. I love the way you did the face, very feline-like though it absolutely doesn't look out of place on a pokemon! The highlights and surrounding are amazing too. I love it!

Vaporeon was my favorite eeveelution when I first played the game as a wee kid! I loved how it looks, I still do! It and Espeon. Anyways, I love the expression! Very snooty (or the suns glare is in it's eyes

Vaporeon and Espeon are my favorites too! I can't even decide which I prefer they're both so cute. >u< Haha I'm glad you like the expression; this started out as a doodle and the next thing I knew I had a sassy Vaporeon. The background was fun; I kind of wish I'd added some fallen leaves or something to the foreground but I probably won't revisit this piece. :u

It's kind of weird drawing a thing that has no eye-whites cause that can really make the difference for expression. Every time I draw Espeon if I don't draw the mouth a certain way it just looks PO'd >.>' I like it the way it is, so I don't think you even need to revisit. It's nice and simple, and you don't want to put too much distraction.

Yeah there's something a little sinister about having a black sclera or whatever is going on with these guys haha. xD Like what they have white pupils? Is that just an exaggerated sheen? That's half the reason why this Vaporeon ended up squinting; I didn't know what to do with its eyes. xD

I have no idea actually, the anime series has played it off as a pupil and a sheen (or just made their eyes not even move.) I can never not give them pupils though and I just end up making the white a pupil or adding a darker shade to be the pupil :/ I can't just leave it pupiless! But pokemon are basically free for interpretation so that's good at least! >.>'

They really are. The designs are so ambiguous you can take them like literally anywhere; which is like 75% of why I like drawing Pokemon haha. xD

Same here, there is no right or wrong when drawing a pokemon in your style. Keep it close to an anime style or figure out a realistic look, no limits what so ever! (yet people still complain weirdly enough) it's relaxing not having to worry of keeping them a consistent thing.

It's a good one for sure. I seriously can't decide which I like best though; I'm seriously partial to Espeon. (Not the shiny form though. Chartreuse? Yikes.)
