Wow, these pictures are like the epitome of hot and cold. Warm and friendly on one side, and cold and distant on the other. I like your interpretation of the images you chose. This two images are very effective what you were trying to accomplish. Very nicely done.

Just so you know, I just finished watching the show Castle, so that's probably why I see the similarity. I also meant my first comment in a completely complimentary manner. It is breathtaking.
