Very pretty girls, and an inspirational message for everyone! As I told a fellow deviant some time ago, true beauty comes from the inside.

I'm really loving the inspiring message to this image. It's so beautiful and so true. But I would love to see it also touch on things such as disabled people , physically and mentally( though I do know that latter is trickier to portray through drawing), girls that are physically scared from things like accidents or surgeries, and girls suffering from illness like cancer. This artwork, while still absolutely stunning, only deals with the 'mainstream' issues that most people think of with the term 'body shaming', that being body shape/size and ethnicity, but there a plenty other things aside from this that girls get body shamed over. I personally have had to deal with a big 5cm scare on my face that's pretty obvious while growing up. I hated it at first but now see it as part of who I am and love it. However I never or rarely ever see motivational images that help girls deal with things like scares.
I'm not hating on the artwork or the masterful mind behind it, I just feel it could be expanded upon.
Well that's my 2 cents worth for the week, keep up the great work daekazu.

Love this message! But it kinda bothers me how only one girl is "bigger" and all the others are thin and showing their stomachs.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
RambitionKur0kku In reply to percyjacksonluver16 [2014-10-18 07:24:02 +0000 UTC]
That may also be due to the fact that most bigger women do this by choice.
Also, the artist may have found drawing the larger woman's stomach to be hard, so she covered it as a way to assist in this issue.
Not to mention, while only one is bigger, only one is muscular, only one is the in between, one is more slim, and the other is a bit more just skinny in general.
I really don't see the point in pointing out the issues, when the message is overall meant with deeply good intentions. Either way the art has a good meaning, so it shouldn't matter either way.

this image could have used a LOT more variety instead of just giving the skinny broads different skin colors.

Yep, you're part of the body-shaming problem.

well where I'm from, being called a skinny broad is considered a compliment... isn't it like that, oh let's say.. EVERYwhere?

c0ffeeblack In reply to MarionMayMay [2014-10-27 19:31:09 +0000 UTC]
They have different body types. You're telling me having muscles is "skinny"? This is why it's not a compliment: you're ignoring the variations in the body types because they aren't obese. You're lumping them all together under a single body type simply because they aren't fat. That is what Telumindel means about "body shaming." You actually said: "just giving the skinny broads different skin colors". You honestly are saying they all look the same to you, they're just interchangeable if it wasn't for their skin tone.
That's awful. This is what I hate about the "body acceptance" movement: you only accept people with bodies like your own. It's just prejudiced crap.
Lumping people together and saying they all look the same is not a "compliment", so don't pretend that you were complimenting anyone.

hey, you're right, what do I know? only that I've been judged my entire life based on my weight, by skinny, thinner, smaller, even healthier (hey use whatever adjective makes you feel more "politically correct", I don't care honey) individuals. so indeed, I guess I have no authority to call this for what it is, and that's completely unimaginative, hiding the one overweight/obese woman in the back round, like everybody else does.
if you haven't been living under a rock for the past couple centuries, I think you'd notice how overweight individuals get treated FAR worse then smaller individuals, so don't give me this "prejudiced crap"shit when *I* say they DO all look the same, they DO all look skinny. in the grand scheme of things, that comment is nothing compared the truly severe insults and cruelty I and other overweight individuals have endured.
the fact of the matter is, these particular figures DO look all the same, except for ONE of them.. so when the artist tries to make a statement of "oh yes, everyone is beautiful", does he really mean it? when only one of them is actually different then the others? I beg to differ.

Except the others are different from each other, in subtle ways. Notice the muscles on the African-American (I'm assuming) girl? Notice how the girl in green has a less curvy body than the girls in yellow and blue? And saying "skinny broads" has negative connotations because of the word choice, not because of what the words mean. Those words carry condescending connotations. If that was an honest mistake in word choice, it's forgiven.

and she's the only one with her belly covered. I feel your pain, but try not to insult the others just because of their body type. Body shaming is body shaming, doesn't matter your fat content.
