Extra: If not friend why friend shaped?
After a little dispute about friends and foes, Helena and Smokey had made their way up the steep hillside for the Snow jumping. Helena hd to admit she was a little nervous jumping the jumps downhill. It was not the typical cross country course where you would have obstacles also flat or uphill, and then there was the snow depth to take into consideration as well. Helena looked at the jumps wile keeping Smokey at a walk, trying to learn from the teams before her how to approach the jumps, where the snow might be deeper or iceier and how some angles might be better to approach from than others. Most entrants seemed to handle themselves quite well, which gave Helena hope that she could push a little on some of the less steep parts to make up time. While Helena watched, the wind blew through Smokey's mane and the Ober let out an excited neigh as another participant was given the sign to go. With a sweet little smile, Helena petted the now more excited mare that really wanted to follow its friend down the hill. While Smokey was not necessarily the most herd-bound mare, she was definitely a social clown. Then it was Helena's turn and she let Smokey prance her way to the starting line, almost getting a faulty start warning from the starter -ALMOST- but they managed to stay in line long enough to be given the signal and Smokey rocketed off.
