Native to Darwin IV, the daggerwrist is an arboreal predator about the size of a man. With the help of the planet's thick atmosphere, this creature can glide using membranes that stretch from elbow to knee. Its front legs are modified into sharp daggers which facilitate climbing and killing prey. Part of its skull detaches to inject prey with digestive juices. After a bit, the daggerwrist commences to drink the liquefied tissues.

The surface of Darwin IV is murky and so the native animals have made use of sonar to find their way around in lieu of eyesight. Ironically, many of them also have bioluminescent organs (the ones on this daggerwrist's back are in dim mode, I guess), the explanation being that these organs function in the infrared spectrum, to which Darwinian life forms are sensitive.

It would appear from one eyewitness report that the daggerwrist parent is eaten alive by its own babies.
