Ye olde GBA games are my childhood and Advance Wars is one of my favorites! (along with Fire Emblem and Breath of Fire) Oh my, I'm so thrilled to know that you play it it 
Yes, I could say I'm a fan of the gameplay and the characters (Sonja may not be as powerful as her dad and the rest of the COs, but I love her smart and calm demeanor *v*)

This is so exciting! I'll admit the only one I actually played was Advance Wars 2, but oh, how I loved that game! I honestly miss it so much, and wish I had played the others (the first I never managed to find in stores, and the sequel I didn't learn about until years too late).Β
But yes, she was a great character! I always thought her theme song was very relaxing, and she was awesome for maps with fog of war. Not as directly strong as her father, but a good tactical character nonetheless. I always enjoyed this one mission where you had to play as Sonja against the black hole CO with the crazy hair (Lash I think?). She had an army of tanks and was trying to reach your HQ, and all you had to stop her were a bunch of artillery units.Β

I have played Advance Wars 1 and 2. The second one is much better due to more characters, units, campaigns and super powers
Agreed! I play the games with my siblings and we were really obsessed with the little bits and pieces of it. We recorded soundtracks and tried to get rank As in as many war rooms as we could (without using Hawke and Sturm because they're OP)
Haha, who could forget that part in Sonja's campaign? It is very unique and challenging. Ahahaha, now I'm feeling nostalgic ><

Ah, soundtracks. I didn't do that, but I did use to just sit on my turn or in the dialogue screens sometimes to listen to the music. It really fit each CO and each country so well. Whoever was in charge of that did a wonderful job. (Did you know they're all on youtube now?)Β
That's a really tough question, there were so many great COs. I think Gritt and Colin were my favorites though. Gritt's enhanced artillery really fit my personal playstyle, and it was a ton of fun to spam units as Colin. I used sensei a fair bit too because I loved his theme music and his super. How about you?Β

Haha I know, it's hard to choose. I don't use Colin that much but he's my bro's favorite, and I can see why
Yea, Grit is one of my faves! I'm also fond of Max and Sami, I love how their powers can increase some units' range and deal much damage (especially Sami's Victory March, it's really wicked) Each CO is unique and has their own edges, I think they're the reason why I love Advance Wars very much ^^Β
I've always considered making tribute art to the games I love but I'm despicably lazy in creating fanarts

Yeah, having so many COs was such a great part. They just don't make games like that anymore.Β
I was only average with Sami, but I do remember that victory march for its instant capture. I like how strong she looked though, like she was about to step out and personally join the battle. Max was a favorite too. I liked to pair him with grit, and put Max on the front lines to hold back the enemy while grit picked them off from long range.Β
I've never drawn any fanart either, maybe I should do that sometime.

I can't recall a lot of the missions, but I do remember one where it is fog of war and you have to hide your troops in the woods as you advance, so that you won't be detected by the cannons and enemies. I also like the last one with Sturm because it was very challenging
