11/27/1940 ~to~ 7/20/1973

This is drawn form a still from what would have Bruce Lee's best movie, but due to his untimely death, and corporate greed, turned out to be his worst. "Game of Death" made yellow jump suits trendy way before Uma Thurman and "kill Bill" were number one at the box office, and is only worth watching for random short clips of real Bruce Lee footage, edited in to the majority of the film which is some guy in dark glasses and a fake beard (yes a fake beard!) pretending to be Bruce. However the last few real scenes, and climax of the movie are the best part and worth putting up with the rest of the rubbish to get to, but they don't really make a lot of sence because most of the movie was made five years after Bruce started the original filming. This is really really stunning. Used to use his quote about how one must become water as my e-mail signiture for a while. Have you seen "Bruce Lee: The Warrior's Journey"? It's largely a documentary but the final part of it explains what the plot of Game of Death should've been and airs the complete existing footage of the final 3 pagoda stages as Lee had intended them to be seen. That weapons battle is just awesome.

Thank you very much! I don't think I've seen the Warrior's Journey. I have a Bruce Lee box set though, it has Fists of Fury, the Chinese Connection, Return of the Dragon, Game of Death, and Bruce Lee: Legend. From what you said about Warrior's Journey, it sounds a lot like Legend.

I'm not sure if I've seen Legend, does it have the missing Game of Death footage on it as well? If you have AMC they usually play Warrior's Journey every once in a while, aired a few times last month I think.

This was based on the movie Game of Death, right? Where he fights a different guy on each floor at the end of the movie? Even Kareem Abdul Jabar? Yeah, Tarantino said he had her wear the yello jumpsuit in Kill Bill as a tribute to Bruce Lee. Cool eh?

I was happy you did another Bruce Lee! I plan on doing one, one day myself, being a big fan an' all. When i read the title i knew it was Bruce Lee! heh heh.

Great job! I love how well you seem to fill the whole frame of the drawing and it has great contrast, not to mention a great portrait in general!

yes this is from game death, I thought about drawing one of the scenes where he fights Jabbar because they are just so visually stunning, but decided on this insted, I'm quite happy with it though.

Yeah I wans't sure about naming it "Return of the Dragon" because this pic isn't from that movie, but because I had already drawn one of Bruce, this one was sorta like a return, and he is the dragon, hence, Return of the Dragon.

As for the size of the drawing, I didn't realize anybody cared. But I can tell you really do so it's about 7"½ x 6" (not exact)

Yes I really like how his hands turned out too, the thing that gave me the most problems for whatever reason, were his teeth. I dunno why, they just didn't want to stay down, I got em eventually.

haha. the most unexpected thing. the teeth! i think you caught so much attention cause bruce lee is just way to badass. i actually have return of the dragon AND game of death both in german. it kinda sucks. i bought them off ebay not knowing they were in german.

oh well!

wow, 'game of death' in german, i didn't think it could possibly get any worse!! lol! Oh well, I suppose it doesn't matter what language it's in, you can still see those last few fight scenes no matter what the language is.
