Description
Myself as Rinoa Heartilly from Final Fantasy VIII. Photo taken by Ollie [Oroborous.net] at Anime Next 2007. Despite generally lackluster scenery at the convention, I really loved this set of stairs leading up to the various levels of the parking garage. They reminded me of the segment of the game wherein the party travels to the tv station in Timber to stop Deling's broadcast. So perfectly "FF8 grunge!" [Please ignore the fact that it looks like I have the world's worst case of cankles- My heel was dropped behind the bar!]Please no critiques/criticism. I'd like to keep this gallery happy! :3

Might I ask where you got the material for the duster? I looked all over for months and couldn't find wide ribs, only tiny ones. And the one I have is still slightly dark... My color matches some of her sprite images but never any of the CG cutscene images. I know some people knit their own...but there's no way I was going to do that lol

Mine is not the correct knit, either. ^__^; The ribbing isn't uniform on it, and it has smaller and bigger ribs arranged in a pattern. Fortunately from a distance you can't see the smaller ribbing, so it looks correct. I wish I knew of a place to buy the correct fabric, but unfortunately I've never seen it online or in fabric stores. Sorry!

It's odd, really...the relationship between Rinoa and Squall is my favourite (followed VERY closely by Tidus and Yuna) but I liked the character of Rydia a bit more than the character of Rinoa. HAHA! I just noticed that their names BOTH start with an R, are both five letters long, both end in an A, both have two consonants and three vowels! I also feel like pointing out that they both start with a "RI" sound; Dia perhaps meaning "Day" and Noa perhaps meaning "Night"? I seriously just noticed all of that! Look what you did!

Don't hate me, but I've actually yet to play FFIV. It's on my list of games to play soon, especially with the DS remake of it getting such good reviews. I'm partially afraid to play it bc I know I'll want to cosplay from it, LOL.
Interesting pick up on their names, though! I had never thought about it that way! Knowing the patterns that Square-Enix uses to name characters/places/things, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a conscious decision.

IV has one of the best storylines (second only to VI) and has immensely wonderful gameplay. you should check it out. the SNES version is easier than the PSone version. I know not a thing about the DS version. I do not own a DS.

Thanks! Really, it depends on both the complexity of the costume and my attention to craftsmanship. Only a few of my costumes are really created to be judged [ie, fully lined, all seams finished, flawless attention to detail] - the others I cut corners with here and there. Rinoa is not a competition costume for me, and she maybe took 3 days to put together. Terra, on the other hand, is TOTALLY a competition costume and took months and months of sewing, beading, armor-making, etc. Very time-consuming. ^__^

Thanks! I did, happily. Terra has won Best of Saturday and Best in Show at two different cons. That'll be it for her until I actually finish the cape and sword, since most cosplay competitions do not allow a costume that has previously won Best in Show to be entered.

I'm actually replaying that game right now, and it certainly reinstated my love for Rinoa, this is an awesome pic! Kinda reminded me of that scene where the garden starts to fly and all her hair is flowin' in the wind, its wicked sweet
