Description
The dawn of the Cold War was also the dawn of the Atomic Age. Government and military priorities shifted as new technologies gave birth to new possibilities. With the power of the atom unleashed, US super-soldier program Project Augment's mission changed from creating superior fighters to creating nuclear gods. Years of testing resulted in thousands of radioactive animal corpses and hundreds of fatalities among federal inmate test subjects and project staff. The program seemed capable of only producing such anomalies as atomic "ghosts" and radioactive mutants. After a series of breakthroughs, administrators chose Air Force Captain [redacted] to undergo the finalized procedure. His body shifted to a constant state of nuclear fission, allowing him to generate vast amounts of energy while emitting deadly radiation in the process. Given an anti-radiation containment suit and code-named Neutron, Captain [redacted] became the first line of defense against the USSR's own superhuman agents. While Neutron proved more than a match for any threat to the US, he had to push himself harder and harder as the threats escalated. This increased the amount of radiation he emitted, requiring increasingly advanced containment suits.

Neutron was a member of the Atomic Age superhero team the Battle Brigade .
