a combination of water colors, graphic pen and coloring pencils on a 5 x 3 1/2 sketch card. been doing some reading of my ROM back issue collection lately and obviously feeling sentimental. i still hate IDW's ROM in name only reboot, long live the 80s.romspaceknightart.blogspot.comβ¦

ok i see. issue 4 of the IDW ROM series is the last one i read in full and the only one i've bought because it had a very unflattering letter i wrote to them in it. last weekend at the local library i came across a trade paper back of IDW's Revolution story line which brings ROM, The Micronauts (hate that idw reboot to), Transformers, G.I.Joe and MASK altogether. i wasn't feelin it, i really didn't get any kind of 80s nostalgia vibe from it. just more of the same of why i don't like today's comics rather it be IDW, DC or Marvel. i just save my money for comic book related movies. ok... the original starshine i hated the head... truly hated it.... the second one, tho cooler design,hated that it was brandy...i loved the human/alien relationship better.... the 3rd versionΒ Β Β from spaceknight series, i didn't bother looking at.

i'm not shelling money on it... but i do have torrents of em... nothing newsworthy really.... i miss everything Marvel... the armor, the dire wraiths etc... i wish i'd win the lottery just to buy the rights to it and get Marvel doing it and get a movie done... CGI or animated movie.

..... oh by the way i know how much of an Optimus Prime fan you IDW has this series going on right now called Revolution in which The Transformers, G.I.Joe, ROM, The Micronauts and MASK all cross over in a story line you even get to see ROM and Prime fighting against each other. you can find it on youtube i don't buy it because i hate what IDW did with their ROM reboot but for free on the internet i figured what the heck why not.

I kinda liked the Rom reboot, even though he's much more of a killer than he was in the original comics, to which if you think about it, would make sense to how you would take down truly evil beings. They're not going to stop even if you imprison them, they're just going to plot revenge against you and make sure to hurt your loved ones along the way.Β
I don't think I'll buy this one either.

What killed it for me was the redesigned armor I just think it was terribly wrong for ROM. I certainly understood the need to make some minor updates but they went waaaaay too far for me that's just not Rom when I look at what idw ended up with.
