Description This is Sora, the main character in my story, Cat's Eye - [link]

Sora is a noble girl who dreams of adventure, yet finds she's not quite ready for it when she's kidnapped on the night of her wedding by an assassin. However, the assassin is being hunted by a sorcerer out for revenge, and soon they realize that Sora's mysterious Cat's Eye necklace - which was left to her by her missing mother - is the only thing that can save the assassin's life.

I hope you enjoy, and feel free to check out the book too, I am currently looking for an agent for the work.

I love Sora so far. I was so hoping I'd find a picture of a wolfy in your gallery so I could truly understand how they look. they're quite fascinating.. shame there's no more females

Wow I'm psyched you're reading it and enjoying it, haha! You know, I keep meaning to do more art of Wolfies, but there never seems to be enough time... maybe I'll put some up in the future. ^_^ If you're curious though, there's a bunch of fan art on my website about them. ^_^

Adella In reply to CrystallineEssence [2008-03-24 00:05:31 +0000 UTC]

briefly this morning I was looking at it. but it would be great to see it come from your brain since that would mean accuracy. like what you, theresa, intended the wolfies to look like.

you knwo what's so hilarious? I have two characters in my story who are main characters (the Adella one). One is Dorian, the other is Etienne. I laughed out loud on the plane when I read their names and people were like "O_o;;;" at me. I'm gonna have to change my characters names now XD!

CrystallineEssence In reply to Adella [2008-03-24 19:39:35 +0000 UTC]

Lol omg that's crazy! Well great minds think alike I guess, haha! No no don't change your character's names, I mean I can understand having a similar name like Dorian because I've seen it in quite a few different books, but Etienne, now there's a CRAZY coincidence! But yeah, don't change the names, it's the character's persona that matters anyway.

I named one character Etienne because it's my boyfriend's father's name. they're french and stuff. Etienne LaFreniere.

i would love something like this!! better yet tho, instead of me telling you what i want. i want you to make me something from the heart! as long as it is full of your energy it will be exactly what i want!!

your work is full of strength and excitement! you are capturing emotion and making a good effort at portraying the human figure. keep up the hard work and your art can only get better!

Thanks a lot! Please let me know what kind of character and scene you would like (I'd prefer sending it in the note), and I'll start working on your prize straight away. I know you said for me to make something for you "from the heart", but I'd at least like a little bit of direction to go on. Character, setting, etc. I look forward to working with you! ^_^

AHhh OMG....I have read your story, well...actually I haven't quite finished it yet, but I hear you are making it into a book!??? I can't wait to buy it so I can read it over and over again!

And I simply cannot forget about this lovely drawing? It's amazing, I love the coloring and details in it, especially the background. Awesome job keep up the great work!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrystallineEssence In reply to MemoryArtist [2007-08-04 08:42:32 +0000 UTC]

Lol, thanks so much, I'm really glad you like the drawing, and I'm so glad you like the book too! I'm sorry you haven't been able to finish it yet, the story on my site is kinda in the process of being re-uploaded, but hopefully you can still get the updates on fictionpress.

I am turning the story into a book, and it should be available this month, actually. If you check my journal, you can see details on a contest to win a free copy. ^_^ I also have a separate contest going on my website, so if you're better at writing than art, you can check out that one too.

Thanks for all the wonderful favs and the watch btw, and keep in touch!

Thanks so much! The description isn't actually part of the story I wrote, it's part of a different one that I'm working on right now, the picture was originally going to be a main character from my finished novel, Cat's Eye, but it kinda turned into something else.

I'm really glad you liked it!

excellent work -love the 'painterly' quality (i think thats the term all the posh mags use...!!) - the whole picture works as one, and the girl actually looks like all her body parts are connected...yey!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrystallineEssence In reply to Amazonofexeter [2006-11-17 21:06:03 +0000 UTC]

Lol thanks, it was a big challenge getting her to work with the background. I'm glad all the body parts look connected, I hate it when photomanips are disjointed like that.

Thanks for the fav!

Pleasure! I'm still trying with figures, in pastel, but same problems....when you realise that for her leg to be in that position it's either broken or shes double jointed....lol!! Will visit soon and check out some more of your work!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrystallineEssence In reply to Amazonofexeter [2006-12-04 21:56:31 +0000 UTC]

Lol, yeah, when I actually sketch people rather than just using figures as photomanipulations, I run into the same problem... the picture turns out to be more eraser-marks than a drawing, haha. I've been buying some books to help me with it, so I'm improving... sloooowly....

Amazonofexeter In reply to CrystallineEssence [2006-12-04 23:14:10 +0000 UTC]

I admit to doing alot of measuring to get outlines accurate...then i can concentrate on shading etc! Need to do more work, but am waiting on getting a graphics tablet before getting involved with real digital art...mice are fine but a little awkward!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrystallineEssence In reply to Amazonofexeter [2006-12-11 20:02:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I know what you mean, I couldn't do digital art until I got my tablet... my brother bought me a tiny cheap wacom, and I've adjusted to the size.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Amazonofexeter In reply to CrystallineEssence [2006-12-13 18:56:50 +0000 UTC]

and tablets are so much cheaper...no one ever considersthe long term cost of mice...its all the feeding and cleaning out that you have to do...plus the fact they live next to the computer....who thought that was a good idea....mice and cables combined, no wonder we get so many computers crashing....ok...not much sleep the last two nights...lol!!!
Are you finding the small wacom size ok? I've been thinking of saving up fr a bit larger one, an intuos if i can, asi borrowed a graphire (i think) but it didn't have the software so some features didn't work properly!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CrystallineEssence In reply to Amazonofexeter [2006-12-14 00:51:04 +0000 UTC]

Lol, yes, damn those mice, and they're not very long lived either...

I'm actually having no trouble at all with the small wacom tablet, I have the smallest size but it's never bothered me (I don't have a lot of desk space for a big one). What I like about the small size is that I have small hands, so I don't have to move all around a huge space just to color the part I'm interested in, or move my wrist at all sorts of weird angles. The size is really just in your mind, anyway - you can train your brain to be good at just about anything, and adjusting to any kind of tablet is hard at first, small or large.

I'm not quite sure what kind of wacom I'm using, I don't have it right in front of me (I've been camped out at my boyfriend's apartment for the last few weeks, haha, shh don't tell the building manager ), but I use Photoshop CS2 and Painter 9 and I haven't had any trouble with it so far.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Amazonofexeter In reply to CrystallineEssence [2006-12-15 00:06:22 +0000 UTC]

No....real nightmare....we need atomic mice......well, at least they would glow in the dark so they could be easily found!
Thats cool about the Wacom tablet - might be worth getting a small one first....they seem to be pretty popular on ebay so shouldn't be any trouble dispatching it if i upgrade and don't want two!
Lucky you...is this going to be a permanent arrangement or just a holiday for now...and no, i won't tell the BM....lol!!
Thanks for the info...will have to go look!!

CrystallineEssence In reply to Amazonofexeter [2006-12-16 18:05:23 +0000 UTC]

Let me know what you end up getting, tablets are awesome.

Well, kinda half and half, I'm staying at his apartment but I still have my room at home, and I see my dad a lot too. I don't think I'll be moving out until I get some kind of a permanent job.

Re living - sounds a good balance...money always helps keep body and soul connected to a comfortable bed...lol!

Re tablet - will do, your idea of a small tablet does have a logical appeal now i think of it...i often do better pics with tiny doodles rather than big sketches where one side never matches the other!! (and the money saved is a big advantage too!)
