I guess. What blows my mind is the very people (culturally speaking) that constructed these buildings are the ones that came here... and look at this place. Though there are beautiful buildings and whatnot, it's nowhere near as elaborate as other places.
I'm trying very hard to think of something we may have here that is gorgeous, and everything that is pretty like this, the building materials came from overseas. At least in the places I've seen. We have several places in town here that is like that.
The Basillica of St. Lawrence. Parts were shipped from Italy, Spain and Germany, if I'm remembering correctly. I'm going there today to get some shots, so I'll post some. And The Biltmore House... parts of it were shipped here.
I do hope to travel one day.
