Five years ago, my husband and I adopted this handsome dog from the local humane society. Those years have been bountiful in blessings that have come from the love a dog can bring. Not only to our household, but everyone he's touched; church members, nursing home residents, children of all ages, tourists missing their own dogs they'd had to leave at home while they come on vacation.

Reo is eleven years old now. We knew when we adopted him that his time with us would be relatively short; his age has finally been catching up with him these past few weeks as he fights an infection and mysterious lumps on his chest. He's tired, and the most I can hope for now is to make him comfortable and enjoy the precious, fleeting moments I have left with him. I need to give my worries over to God, and not only be grateful for having been blessed by such a beautiful companion, but trust that His timing is perfect and that all will happen as it should.

I love you, Reo; thanks for finding us and bringing joy to our lives. We'll cherish all the moments we still get to make with you. <3
