Description He's a long-eared jerboa, but I made him look a little like a bunny. And he has thumbs...
I drew/sketched many jerboas before I did this one. I usually don't do studies of that sort. It helped a lot. I'll try to make that a habit...

Watercolor paint, white gel pen, black colored pencil, and graphite on Arches cold pressed paper.

Watercolor, eeee!! <3 I love watercolor! This is great. I thought it was a kangaroo rat at first. I'm glad to hear that you've found the advantage of doing studies of something before producing lovely work on it. I have yet to find that out for myself, but it sounds like good advice. This is definitely professional grade stuff! Maybe you should consider children's illustration?

I like how you conveyed texture and fur direction in the coat, and the colors blend together so flawlessly! I always have a hard time with watercolors unless I use very thick outlines (to cover up the fact that I can't color within friggin lines). The eyes of this character are rather cartoony, but again, I think that only reinforces my argument of you going into children's illustration ;3 I especially love the shading in the ears, and how light on its feet the jerboa looks!

Great job!

Thanks! But I'm not sure about children's illustration. Especially not with this character. His story is shaping up to be a little much for children, I think. It's a little gory...And I really want to put some swear words in there sometimes. (Probably 'cause I don't really get to swear much out loud.)
I wouldn't call the eyes cartoony, I'd say they're more...Stylized? heh, I don't know.

It's so cute- Then I look at his paws, and all I see is "I WILL GOUGE YOUR EYES OUT."

Then again, that's how most rodents are- adorable faces, terrifying extremities.

Their cuteness makes people let their guard down, and then the rodents strike. It's their strategy.

The other strategy is to abandon cuteness, hide in the compost pile, and try to kill my dog.

Thanks! I love them, too. I sort of want one...But I doubt I could take proper care of it...
