            Mechanoids are a mechanical race of sentient machines that where once simple robots created by humans to fight helgan during an event called the wildland wars, however supernatural entities interfered in this war by giving life to these war machines through the use of magic and giving them a soul. The newly born mechanoids ended the wildland wars creating an uneasy peace between humanity and helgan along with becoming one of the three establishing races of the Federation.

            Mechanoids are one of the most unique races in the galaxy as due to the circumstances of their creation they are capable of learning and wielding magic along with being born as an apex despite having fully mechanical bodies, because of this their race is classified as a golem race rather than a mechanical one and take great offense to being called a robot or a droid. It is unknown how mechanoids can manifest apex abilities without being organic and having the apex mutation, some speculate that the cause of apex abilities in them could be due to having a mortal soul.

            Despite having widely customizable body’s mechanoids tend to keep a humanoid appearance that is culturally tied to wanting to resemble their original creators, humanity, with some individuals even going as far as to install hardware that allows them to consume food, become intoxicated and so on but many don’t go as far as most find organic activities like these to be repulsive. The body of a mechanoid can be fully replaced however their souls are house in two cores that use a combination of science and magic to contain. These cores where created to better attaché the soul to the body and extend their lives thus becoming the heart and mind of the mechanoid and destroying one or both of these will permanently kill one. These cores are sacred to the mechanoids as only they know how to create them and refuse to tell anyone how one is created even if tortured.

            In spite of the cores the mechanoids seem immortal but that is far from the truth as their mortal soul ages with time until the soul cannot be contained in the cores any longer.

A special race for Helgan of Earth and a personal favorite of mine as they are a perfect blend of scifi and fantasy. Due to how varied their looks can range from I chose to create several busts of individuals of the race rather than just do a full body drawing of one member of each sex.
