Description My character. Title means 'Flower of Winter', and is a play off her name.
-----------------------------------

Name: Fuyuno Reimeiki (winter’s dawn)

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Ranking: Snow Village Chuunin.

Physical Description: Reimeiki is small and slight. She stands only 5’1”, and is slender. However, her slim frame is all wire and whipcord. Her most remarkable features are her hair- which is very long when worn down, and a pure snow white- and her eyes, which are garnet-colored and slit-pupilled like a cat's (she uses a minor genjutsu to hide this). Her fingers are slightly longer than usual, and this helps Reimeiki with her sleight of hands tricks and in her lock picking. Her fingertips are littered with thin, faint scars from practicing her Summoning.

History: Born to one of the wealthier merchants of the Snow Country, the second baby of a set of twin girls, Reimeiki was delivered at dawn, hence her name. Both Reimeiki and her twin were born partially albino, thus Reimeiki’s unusual appearance.

This, surprisingly, did not alienate the merchant and his wife. They loved their daughters despite their exotic appearance, and raised them as normally as possible. Unfortunately, the villagers outside the immediate compound did not at first agree with them. Reimeiki and Sayo were, therefore, greeted with signs warding off evil the moment their parents’ backs were turned. The local children, told stories of female ice vampires, soon joined in on the ostracism.

Because of this Rei and Sayo spent much of their time together. So much time together, in fact that they never stopped speaking their twin-speak. The two are still known to catch each other up in news by a few quick minutes of seeming babbling to one another.

Of course, even twins can only be together so much before they begin to bicker, and the twins’ interests began to quickly diverge. Sayo was fascinated with plants. She spent hours with the compound’s herbalist, learning all about the different properties of lichens and other small tundra plants as well as healing techniques from the compound’s medical nins. The animals of the compound, especially the dogs, mesmerized Reimeiki. Rei began tagging along with the boys in charge of the tundra-adapted dogs her father kept for hunting and traveling. She learned all she could about the dogs’ behavior, their likes, and their dislikes.

Sayo was the oldest, expected to become a lady, and manage a household. Reimeiki, when made to sit in on these lessons, quickly learned how to conceal herself and make tracks into the outdoors, avoiding the villagers as best she could; the older villagers returned her immediately to her parents’ guards, and the other children would start fights that Rei was often on the losing side of.

Rei soon grew skilled enough at running and hiding that her parents were forced to start hiring the local Snow nins to find their errant daughter for her more important lessons. It was then that Reimeiki discovered her unusual talent—her eyes see chakra in large amounts, giving her the ability spot hidden ninjas, as their chakra lit them from within to her sight.

Reimeiki had no idea at all what she wanted to be, except for rebelling against anything and everything, for quite some time. However, this changed one day, when one of Rei’s outings took a dangerous turn. Rei was running across a rooftop in the village, trying to play keep-away from the nins who had been assigned to chase her down that day, when one of the village children took offence (it was his house Reimeiki was leading the chase across). One well-flung rock later, Reimeiki was hurt, disoriented, and on her way to a very painful impact with the ground. Reimeiki had only the most fleeting impression of being caught in strong arms before she was out for the count.

She came around in time to be set down in a hospital room, head throbbing and vision doubled and swimming from a concussion. Rei caught only the blur of a face and the shine of light off the mysterious nin’s forehead protector before her parents rushed in and began fussing over and at her. The remembrance of that strong, sure touch followed her into her sleep.

Reimeiki became determined to become a ninja to find that same strength and surety within herself.

The same day that Sayo announced to her that their parents had engaged her to one of the Snow’s noble clans’ first son, Reimeiki told her of her plans to become a ninja. Reimeiki’s parents released her to the Academy with only slight reluctance, since, unlike with the more ladylike and quiet Sayo, there had been no offers for Reimeiki.

Reimeiki entered the Academy late, but determined to do well. She advanced quickly despite a few interesting mishaps during her schooling. It was during this time she made her pact with the wolves, surpising her teachers. She was able to summon Shirokiba at age twelve, surprising herself. She was selected for a special all-female Genin team as the Ninjutsu specialist, but spent most of her time training separately with the team's leader, as she wasn't very popular with her teammates. She passed the Chuunin exam soon afterward.

Afterward, she learned her sister had been placed on a team as well, though an unofficial one. Sayo had become a rather powerful healer, and caught the attention of the higher ups as this was also a rarer calling in Snow. Reimeiki was happy, but worried for her sister's safety (seeing as Sayo was absolutely hopeless in Taijutsu and Genjutsu), until she met her sister's teammates, Kagayaki Kurai and Hotorino Hane. Satisfied that her sister was well looked after, Reimeiki turned her attention to settling into her own new team...

Personality: Reimeiki is bright, effusive, energetic, and mischievous. She has no problems with teasing someone subtly or playing pranks, though she can get a little touchy about being teased herself, if the ribbing gets a tad too close to the taunts that hurt her feelings badly when she was a little girl. Reimeiki spends much of her time with Shirokiba, training and traveling, and sometimes just playing or talking. Because of this, Rei is of the “Love me, love my wolf” mindset, and anyone who professes to like Shiro is immediately all right by her book (Shiro, of course, has more discriminating taste. Shiro has pronounced Reimeiki part of his ‘pack’, and so is extremely protective). He holds Reimeiki’s complete loyalty in return, as do all the people Reimeiki feels that she can trust. However, though Reimeiki is very friendly and easy to get along with, once offended, she tends to hold a grudge, especially on Shiro’s behalf. She also tends to be slightly insecure when meeting new people, often tilting her face downward so that her eyes aren’t visible; an old defensive habit left over from her childhood. When fighting seriously or angry, Rei’s personality does a complete 180 turn, and she tends to become cold, quiet, and totally ruthless in incapacitating opponents or slashing them to ribbons verbally.

Likes: Sayo and Shirokiba, first and foremost. She also likes reading books and manga in her spare time. She loves clubbing, and, oddly enough, she loves sewing; it’s the one “ladylike” pastime that was able to hold her attention for any time, and she’s good enough that she can sew her own clothes.

Dislikes: Sayo’s fiancé. Etiquette lessons. Cheap romance novels. Broccoli. Being trapped indoors. Being stared at. Her Genin team leader, the Lady Kitahoshi. Has a love/hate relationship with one of her sister's teammates, Kagayaki Kurai.

Jutsu used:

Ninjutsu: Reimeiki’s main Ninjutsu are Kuchiyose no Jutsu and Water manipulation. She has contracts with the wolves. She is quite successful at summoning the wolves, having managed to get Shirokiba (white fang), one of the more powerful wolves, to answer her call. Shirokiba is big enough to ride (he’s a few hands taller than a large horse), and Reimeiki uses him as transportation as often as she uses him in battle, much to Shiro’s chagrin. Rei’s Water manipulation is skilled enough that she can, when focused, control blood as well.

Yuki Bunshin no Jutsu: (Snow Clone Skill) Reimeiki uses the snow to make clones of herself.

Kami no Megumi no Jutsu: (God’s Gift Skill) Reimeiki halves her chakra to share with a teammate—however, Reimeiki has not mastered this technique, and instead of being able to transmit the chakra simply by touch, Reimeiki can only accomplish the transfer by mouth to mouth contact. In other words, she has to be willing to kiss said teammate.

Satsugai no Jutsu: (Bloodshed skill) Reimeiki calls blood from her opponent’s wounds, preventing clotting and gradually worsening the injury.

Muketsu no Jutsu: (Bloodless skill) Basically the opposite of the Satsugai, Reimeiki uses this technique to seal off wounds, preventing blood from flowing from them though the skin itself does not heal.

Arare Shinku no Jutsu: (Scarlet Hail Skill) uses razor thin slivers of frozen blood to pelt the enemy

Ame Chishio no Jutsu: (Blood Rain Skill) pulls blood out through an enemy’s pores. Assassination technique. Reimeiki’s Forbidden Skill – she’s allowed to use it only in life or death situations. Takes an immense amount of chakra, so Reimeiki can only use it twice currently, or she risks killing herself.

Kuuchuufuyuu no Jutsu: (Levitation Skill) allows Reimeiki to walk on air. She uses it mostly to keep from leaving footprints, or for getting the jump on an opponent.

Reimeiki also uses Kanashibari no Jutsu, Kori de Hiyasu no Jutsu, and Tsumetai Kaze no Yaiba. All of these are more common Jutsus, though Reimeiki usually adds a twist to more suit her Ice and Water manipulation skills.

Genjutsu: Kiri Ake no Jutsu: (Red Mist Skill) Covers the battlefield in thick blood-colored mist, creating confusion in the enemy. However, Reimeiki can only hold this for a short period of time. She uses it mostly to buy time to run away or summon Shirokiba.

Taijutsu: Shi no Rasen: (Spiral of Death) A fluid style that Reimeiki was taught by her sensei, combining several dance and acrobatic moves with kicks and punches that rely on Reimeiki building up and using momentum against her opponent. A derivative of the Blizzard form, it attacks the easier to break joints rather than bone. Reimeiki is loathe to use it in battle, however, and never uses it in sparring; an accident in training, where she did not check her blow enough, left one of her sparring partners with a broken knee. The sound of joints breaking has sickened Rei ever since, and she uses it only to warm up (like a kata) or as a last resort.

Weapons used: Keeps several stilettos hidden about her person at all times, positions varying according to the situation. Lock picks are hidden in her hair. Kunai are kept in the usual place, and shuriken are in hidden pockets in her coat.

Future goals, dreams, and hopes: Hopes to one day gain acceptance from the villagers who excluded her as a child, but will rarely admit this. Dreams of finding someone like her sister’s betrothed (whom she dislikes for – as Reimeiki sees it – stealing away her sister, however, she admires the strength of his feelings for Sayo). Also something she rarely admits, as she sees this as very school-girlish. Quite interested in becoming an Anbu.

Extra Info: Having been raised in a merchant family made Reimeiki’s ninja education rather spotty before going to the Academy. Her practical knowledge had odd gaps in it, leading her to make some innovative new techniques, but also some rather spectacular failures.

Reimeiki's memory is eidactic -- she remembers things after having only seen/heard/read them once, and keeps this recall for quite some time.

Reimeiki's eyes see chakra in large amounts, letting her easily spot hidden nins, and, due to her eidactic memory, she can sometimes identify the person by their "chakral pattern".

Unbeknownst to Reimeiki, her mother isn't a native of Snow -- she's actually from a clan of shapeshifters outside of any Village (they live in the wilds outside of Moon). Rei's mother was exiled because she cannot shift*. Because of her heritage, Rei has unusually keen senses, especially her sense of smell.

Years experience: 3 years at the ninja Academy, 2 years training with sensei

Preferred weapon: Stiletto knives, kunai, and shuriken

Yeah. That leg kept wanting to be craptastic. So I said, 'Fine. You will be a sock foot and a knee then because any more erasure will eat through my paper.'

Heh. Yeah, I realized how long it was after I posted it... Three pages worth, I think...

Thank you for the compliment! ^^ Rei was very stubborn about what she wanted her background to be. And all those techniques took forever to think up and find one by one in my Japanese dictionary. I'm happy to know that you liked it enough that you took the time to read the obscenely long thing.
