Many years ago I worked for a picture framer who rented space in a large building near downtown Chicago. Also in the building was an architectural firm. Working for that firm was a Master model builder. One day in the basement I realized that this model builder was creating a model of St. Marks Square in Venice. (late 1970's or maybe early 1980's) Over the course of more than a year I watched the square come alive. The tower, the people.... so much beautiful detail. I got to sneak a look every day I worked.
Even after I moved on to another job I would occasionally go back to the building to see his progress. He eventually won international accolades for his tremendous work. Alas, one day when I went to look at the most incredible architectural model, I found that it was gone. The artist (whose name I wish I could remember) had left that firm and taken his model with him.
Sorry to ramble, but this beautiful panorama brought all those marvelous emotions back out of the blue. Thank you. Very beautiful work.
