I hate Fronnie because of how I see Bonnie and Freddy, but mainly how I see Bonnie and how his personality would be. So to correctly explain why I hate the Fronnie ship I would have to explain how I see Bonnie personality wise (note that it is my opinion), and why (just read the last paragraph if you don't want to read all of the other things):
I see Bonnie as cold, calculating and ruthless. More of the type who falls into the "calm but not pleasantly calm but rather a very dangerous, threatening calm", never showing true emotions. And I see him as sadistic. Sort of like HAL 9000.Β
You may be thinking "So, this is obviously a headcanon pulled out of a hat.", but I assure you, I didn't just pull that whole bit from nowhere and decided to roll with it. I have my reasons based on how I (HUGE EMPHASIS ON I) see and interpret his ingame movements, mainly in the first game.
So first off, why do I see him as sadistic, cold and calculating?
Β Bonnie is the only one who will actively deviate from his path to show up in places for no other reason than to scare you. Like when he pulls the void eye trick in the backstage. Freddy does it in the hallway- but he has to pass the hallway ANYWAY. Bonnie has no real purpose in the backstage other than to scare you, and that alone almost makes it seem like he draws amusement or pleasure from seeing the guard hurt- mentally or physically. He is also the most frequent visitor to the door- I believe this is also to unsettle you. To know that he isΒ a MAJOR threat.
It also has a whole bunch of strategy behind it- and it doesn't just work on Mike. It works on us, as the players playing the game.
Bonnie returns to the door often, causing a sense of unease in the player themselves. Unease can make you nervous, jumpy and impulsive, leading you to shut the right door more often than you should- draining your power in the process. This is the effect it has on most real world players.
But think of Mike Schmidt, sitting in his chair. Imagine how uneasy he may feel, knowing his life is in danger. It wouldn't just be a game to him, thus making him more nervous than us, the players. That is why the whole backstage black eyes trick would be really effective in real life. For the game, it is useless (unless you are me who gets terrified of still images..). Players look at it and are like "meh". Again though, how would somebody in that situation feel if it were real? Terrified, I bet.
This whole strategical planning, taking detours to the closet to start twitching in a paranormal manner, taking detours to the back stage, coming to your door as often as possible.... all of this would have to come from a sadistic, calm and calculating person. One who will not rush into the fray like say Foxy, but rather will try to effectively unnerve the guard best as possible to gain benefits and make his job easier. That requires certain patience as well as cunning.
This is also how I explain Bonnie not appearing as a phantom in 3- he may just be waiting for the right time to strike. For the player who is blindly playing FNaF 3, the might think "Wasn't there a purple bunny?!" and be on edge for the rest of the game, waiting for the bunny to pop up. Again, demonstrating patience and extensive strategizing on Bonnie's behalf- because any ingame guards might also be confused that they've seen Chica, Freddy, Foxy, Mangle, BALOOON BOY, but not Bonnie. It would trigger our completionist impluse. There would be something MISSING. Both for the player and and the nightguard character. It would cause them to expect a Bonnie jumpscare- but they wouldn't get it, instead waiting for it to show up.Β
As far as focus and precision... Bonnie is the only one who looks you dead in the eyes in FNaF 1 when he attacks, jaw snapping. Chica doesn't look at you (even if she has a lazy eye apparently, you can tell that neither of her eyes are trained on you, but rather above you, making me put her into a more friendly [relative to the situation] type). Foxy, Freddy and Fredbear look at you, not really making direct eye contact but just looking in your general direction, focusing on you as a whole.
And then there is the matter of his attack in FNaF 2. He and Mangle are the only two who don't just slam their face into your face. Bonnie attacks by grabbing you- maybe to strangle you. This shows anger and sadism too. Death by cut airflow is alot slower and painfuller (and panic inducing) than headsmashing you or biting your head off.
Now here comes the headcanon-y part. Because of his behaviour, the way he is portrayed, I just feel that he would be asexual/aromantic. I just CAN'T SEE A ROMANCE happening with Bonnie. At all. Especially not with Freddy, of all people. There isn't even any sort of chemistry between them, nor is there one between Foxy and Chica, for that matter. The only ship I would ever, ever ship with Bonnie is Chica (and even this is slightly reluctantly) because they both seem to act in coodinance with eachother, with similiar direct attacks. They are the only two to make that eerie groaning noise (another strategical method to make the guard nervous. Why would Bonnie have to make the guard nervous if he was already in the office, ready to kill? Sadism I tell you). Though Bonnie hides in the shadows when the door is closed and the blindspot light is activated and Chica stares at you.... Bonnie, you may just miss and open the door thinking he's not there when he really is. Chica.... not so much. But how they behave in the office.
