yup. Strangely, I have WAAAY to many players that forgo getting that spell.

That concept just... floors me. Of the two campaigns I've been involved in in 5e, I've gone out of my way to make sure the party had a spellcaster with Identify - my Forge Cleric in the Strahd game and my Warlock (via Pact of the Tome) in the Princes of the Apocalypse game. Failing to pick up Identify at the earliest opportunity just... My brain is break.

Yup. generally they take Skill Focus on spellcraft and Magical Aptitude, which gives a total of +5 Bonus to Spell Craft levels 1-9, and then jumps to a +10 Bonus when they reach level ten. It also Grants a +2 Bonus on Use Magic Device. 

Which while helpful at figuring out magical items quickly.... is kinda a Feat Dump to give up two feats just not to use Identify
