Pretty much every single fanfic writer ever seems to agree with you on Pinkie tasting and smelling sweet, so that can probably be considered fanon. The picture itself is excellent. I've heard that it's very difficult to draw ponies kissing, but this looks very nice and natural.

I don't think it's THAT hard. This is actually a sketch from the time I couldn't draw pones as consistent...
It's like with human kissing: Rainbow Dash tilts her head a little bit. And then, because candy pones, you can play around with the necks a bit, if it's a surprise kiss, like here, pinkies neck goes back, while Dash's darts forth.
It's simple. But this is a deep kiss. A smooch is even SIMPLER. The snouts go together and do a little crunch, depending on how hard the smooch is.
I really don't know why it is considered that hard.
This is an example for when everything just *works* while drawing.. I don't know if you understand this.. Sometimes you draw something, and everything just works, there is no (on traditional level) erasing or ambigous posing, or anything.
This was drawn in 10 minutes, because everything worked. It fascinates me, because the drawing felt natural, too.
