Description Sept 2019 box - This one was fun! Theme was "Feeling Buggy", and I actually did have an idea for it right off the bat, which was to attempt an original insectoid species that I've been meaning to work on for a while anyway (I'll put more details below) I did end up using a gel pen and some colored pencils in addition to the stuff in the box. It came out VERY pretty IRL, so I'm quite pleased

What I Thought About The Stuff

Viviva Color Sheets - They're watercolors in booklet form. I actually already had a set of these so I ended up just using the already open set. Now! I'm still learning watercolor (it's a huge challenge because... totally new media for me) but I would say these are just "okay". They are super vivid, gorgeous colors, but the problem I kept having is that they reactivate on the paper like, instantly. I wanted to layer colors more but no matter how long I waited for them to dry, as soon as any wetness touched the paint would reactivate and spread. There was an area where I waited a full day to paint next to it, it got slightly wet, and it STILL spread anyway >_>

Oh well, I guess if you were going for the "colors bleeding into other colors" look (which does look nice with florals) it would be a pretty good set.

I've actually been meaning to work on designing these for a while but kept putting it off because...insects are so, so far out of my comfort zone, LOL. For now their working name is a "Spell Stinger" aka, "Magic Bee." The design is inspired by a couple different animals. While I would say they are not specifically a bee / part of the bee family, they fall into the category of "basically, a bee." They live in hives and produce honey in excess quantities. Despite being rather large (wings and all ~ about the size of an average human fist), they are relatively harmless and usually won't sting unless they feel threatened. They are also very rare, to the point where they are considered cryptids/fantasical beasts.

Everything they produce has a bit of magic in it - lending a flavor similar to a strange "metallic" tang. Their honey is technically edible, but to the average person it's just unpleasant. Sions however, also being magic, loooove it. Normally they don't like to eat, but they'll make an exception for that. They'll eat it straight, in honeycomb, brew mead with it (which causes it to taste, quoth Static, "like death "), among other things. They will also use honey and wax to craft magic-infused items, such as poultices, candles, etc.
