im thinking about seeing that new series since its predecessor was pretty good. i can tell you, if Ned was the first series and had an invention of his called Nanodrive (which in a nutshell gives a person "bending"), the Fire Nation wouldn't stand a chance.

I've only seen the first season of the old show, but this series looks amazing. (The artwork is what gets me--it's pretty great.) And I have no doubt that Ned would've taught the Fire Nation a lesson or two.
