Applejack and her family are the only ones who have American accents. The others have Canadian accents.

You know, I can never tell the difference between a Canadian and American accent... and I am Canadian.

I live in Washington state and you can find a lot of Canadian flavor here even though we're in the USA. In fact most of us here in Washington even talk with Canadian accents, I know I do. Next time you watch MLP, listen to how Applejack talks if you travel further down South you'll be hearing more of that and Twilight Sparkle and the others speak more Canadian like which is what you here when you're up North close to the US and Canadian boarder like I am.

You know, almost every Canadian actor I have seen in films, I thought they were Americans. Jim Carrey, Hayden Christensen, Christopher Plummer. Even in Flashpoint (a Canadian TV show), I thought Amy Jo Johnson was Canadian. But she's from the States.
And I also expected most of the cast of MLP to be from the States. I never knew Tara Strong was Canadian. I don't see lots of Canadian actors in films and stuff. But some shows now... well, you know. I was surprised to see that almost all of the cast (that I have looked up so far) isn Canadian.
