I agree, the background is fine.
If there was just sky, or if she was in a field
it would just look like EVERY other shot of a girl holding an umbrella.
So I think it's fine.
It's a good capture :]

I personally don't think the background is that distracting.
the photo isn't just about the girl
she fits very well into the scenery. seems to be enjoying it.

absolutely adore the oufit and her expression is adds a lot of personality to the photo. I do agree with stecent though, background is rather distracting... i'd say it would look sweet on a wall but only the sky with clouds as the background though that would be hard to find a good placement for that. still lovely.
