You were close. The parents are actually Spitfire and Rapidfire, but they died on a train ride when he was 2 yrs. old so Rainbow and Soarin adopted him.

Thing is,Spiret was the son of Spitfire and Rapidfire,but when 2 years old,they died on a train ride,so Soarin tuck him in so Spiret would not have to go to anΒ orphanage when Rainbow and Soarin's real son(Lighting Sky) was 1 year old
