As much as a love the red gyrados I don't count it with a as my first.
I got my zubat (now a crobat) in gen 6 surprisingly. I expected to find one much earlier tbh

Other than the red gyrados I didn't know what shinies were when I found my shiny electrike but she was so pretty I didn't care if it messed up my game I was gonna catch her lol

Ya I wasn't sure what would happen either with my electrike when she was going to evolve but I did it anyway and was so glad I did when she turned black and yellow.
It took me a few gens to start officially shiny hunting but now I'm obsessed and working on a full living shiny dex all thanks to her

That's fair I know the way I collect shinies is a bit extra lol
Y was when I really got started with chain fishing and hoard hunting then sos chaining in s&m and usum really got my collection going big time.
And I have to say that swsh has just blown my collection up much more with the dens
I think it's the first gen will be able to 100% soon I think I'm only missing 5 (other than the ones that are shiny locked anyway)

That's fair switches are expensive.
But swsh was a pretty fun game and the shiny hunting in games has been really fun.
And there's tons of beautiful shinies this gen like obstagoon inteleon and corviknight so there's tons to look forward too.
Plus if you get the dlc you can get access to a bunch of other great older pokemon.

They really are! I kept my corviknight all the way through and it came in clutch several times in the game.
They did great with a lot of the designs this gen. There's only a few I'm not fond of but that's more of my personal taste than bad design

Fair. I name my shinies after a lot of things. Gems mythological creatures or gods food and drinks.
Just whatever comes to mind when I look at them.

Oh I named her tourmaline. There's a version of the stone called watermelon tourmaline and I thought it fit her nicely.

I always love hearing everyone's names for their shinies.

I like making sets of names sometimes. It's fun to have them like a little family.
Like I also made all of my eeveelutions as mythological creatures that go with their typing and even planned for future eeveelutions too.

Like I planned naming my dratini martini 7 years before I finally got it.

Cocoa is such a cute name for them.
I named my pikachu pound cake, my pichu cupcake, my raichu carrot cake, and my alolan raichu pancake.
Then I think I have so far snickers the morepeko, matcha the minun, parfait the plusle, and sugar cookie the emolga.

Ya I've had that problem a few times especially when i first started SOS hunting.
It's a pain sometimes but honestly it's not too bad of a method to shiny hunt especially if you have the special trevenant for it

Oh it's cause they know selfdestruct.
One mistake and it breaks the chain or the shiny kills itself. I've tried a few times and my chain never lasts long.
