this picture really does catch my eye, the fact that AppleJack here, is all bruised up, and sweating, tells me she has already started the battle. But holding the axe acctually provides information that she is out to acctually stop the timberwolves. I must say that this picture is really well done! for the fact of the style, the concept, and/or the idea of the image.
The attention to detail you provided is quit unique you style really stands out. I enjoy all the eyes in the background, but there may be too many unless your refering to any other animals back there perhaps? O.o
The style is dark but I understand why, it is though, a little too dark to see the timberwolves very well, mostly the eyes are standing out.
Perhaps a little more shading here and there, fix the lighting a bit, and less eyes perhaps, would make the picture more presentable, otherwise I agree that this picture is a great piece of art. I must also point out that the way you posisioned her is quit outstanding ^^ I hope you guys think this is as true as I do.
Therefor, this picture, is quit fantastic and wonderful. Well done completely! ^^

I've never done a critique, but this pic really made me want to.
What to say? It really grabs me. The fact that Applejack is wielding an axe is pretty cool, and makes me think that maybe she was prepared for this kind of situation, or even went looking for it. Definitely a good thing that the pic makes me think beyond it.
Vision: The flow of the piece is great. All in all, you pulled off a feeling of being cornered very well. I can really sense AJ's feelings, and I think she's a bit worried. Again, the pic makes me think. The axe, the bandaged leg, it's almost like she's been trapped in the woods for a while, and is making a desperate attempt to escape now.
Originality: Admittedly, I have seen this kind of pic before, with AJ faced with Timberwolves. It's a situation that could have come right form the show, and so no so original. However, your inclusion of the little details that are in there pumps the originality up a notch, for sure. You've really taken the concept and ran with it.
Technique: I like your style overall, but there's some things that bug me despite it. I am not going to say anything about the pic not being show accurate since it's obviously not intended to be. Her front legs, especially the left one, seem kind of spindly. The left front leg is sort of awkward to me, and my attention is drawn to it doubly because of the bandage. The scene is also very dark, which seems intentional, but it may be a bit too dark. Without close examination, I could not tell there was a wolf in the foreground on the right side. Likewise, on the left, the wolf doesn't really appear very well. Those two are very easily ignored, and I feel if they were more visible, would add more suspense to the piece.
Impact: This piece has huge impact. It jumps up at you and doesn't let you look away for a bit. Much like I said in the Vision section, there's so much to think about in this piece as well. It's definitely among my favorite pictures of Applejack.
