Macro, 50mm f1.7 with a... 25mm perhaps? extension ring / Long exposure to capture the movement of a funky Clash song / Contrast blew out of proportion, did not count on that.
The player is a Lenco-L85, you can't tell in this picture but it's the hands down most beautiful turntable in the world and the sound is awesome too. Photos like these are pretty much masturbation, but I am okay with that. The one thing that bothers me is that the shadow from the arm blocks a bit of the light reflecting from the record. I should have set that up different.

Sadly no, I've been considering saving some money for a dslr but it's just way out of my league, for now I'll stick with film.
Looking at this again I realise that I should spend some time cleaning up the scan though.

it's nice - i like it. - but it's a little too dark - maybe if you had lit it from the top left very very slightly it would have added more to the grooves of the vinyl.

I agree, the needle completely dissapearing in shadows is highly distracting and if I get around to re-shooting this I will try to get a smoother more evenly lit photo. There are a few shots I took of it that is better in that aspect, but they have other flaws with bothers me even more.
The turntable is a Lenco L 85 ( [link] ) I can't find any good information about it on the Internet, but according to my father who used to sell/repair them in the 70's it's a high quality item.

I actually like it all that blur HalighALie is talking about isn't a bother, it's like a reflection or something I don't know but little "imperfections" like that make some things look good especially this, a record.

Not sure what caused the blur, I haven't touched this picture in ps (apart from the frame and signature) but that would be the first thing to go.

Love it, this is the kind of shot i've tried and failed in the past, i love the movement on the record label! the swirl is quite beautiful. Vinyl makes me very happy

The swirl was a very positive suprise to me, the tag is actually gray with just a small red "The Clash - Combat Rock" logo. I'd say the exposure was at least one second so the colors really got a chance to liven it up a bit.
