This was back a few years ago in the fall, when i was still in high school, the wind blew so hard in the valley in my state that the birds would loose control of their flight and hit the ground of something nearby that it would make a sound. They would be fine afterwords though cause I have no idea how they survive. Anyway, my math class was going over new subjects and now then the birds would hit the windows with a thud that would scared us but would get a good laugh out of it though. Just sort of shared that story of those of a good laugh and great work.

I feel like there's no way that bird could possibly eat something that big and survive. But a fantastic shot, i must say.

If they are strong and patient enough, they peck them open. The smarter ones fly up and drop them on cars or the pavement, until they crack open and then eat its contents. Also I have seen these smart bastards placing the nuts on the road and waiting until they get run over by cars and then grab the insides.
So there are enough ways for them to get hold of the nut without having to swallow them in its whole. (What wouldn't be possible due to its size anyway.)
