Description

Alex knew her eyes were open, but to her, all was dark. It didn't make sense. She had just hit her head, that didn't cause blindness, did it? Surely her sight would come back. But she was useless. She could hear her brother Ronnie moving around, scanning the outside, turning the lamp on and off. However close her face was to the light, though, it was only the heat that let her know it was on. She huddled beneath the moldy blanket, unmoving, as the days wore on and she was wracked with nightmares. Every time, it was the same. She was running for her life, away from the infected after her, when a cloud of dense black smoke rolled in, surrounding her, pressing in on her eyes. She could see nothing, but she could feel, and the sharp claws and teeth of the infected ripped in to her...

She would always wake up screaming.

Yeah, my submission for the event. This is just after they fled their house, and they found a boarded up home that they used as a hiding place. Ronnie would peel a board or two off the windows and check the world outside, while Alex lay huddled in a blanket, in shock over the loss of her sight.
